iamthefly
Iv been through all 3 books and the only models Levi has access to that have insta kill (trigger to do no damage but discard 2 cards or you're dead) are Rusty Alice and the Steambourg Executioner. Both models require a ram for the trigger. Note that Alice has Rapid Fire and the SE has Melee expert and Flurry. Thats a potential 14 cards drained between them, though very hard to do the max 14 obviously. Do you think that it's a good idea to build a crew around just insta killing high ss minions and masters? Cheers.
Huang Da Wei
hmmm, could be fun when Zoraida casts obey on them
Hateful Darkblack
Bete Noire has an insta-kill, and Levi can hire her.
Kael Hate
Can't forget Jack Daw
Omenbringer
Main problem is going to be in hiring costs. But it could be fun, for sure. Also remember that Flurry attacks are all against the same target, so once you kill that model the Steamborg Executioner will sit idle until its next activation. Toonook
I'd take any excuse to field the steamborg executioner, love that model
iamthefly
Hmm... Death by Bete Noir's Mark for Death doesn't kick in until the encounter is at an end and so won't drain cards. I thought about her anyway, but getting her out will be more difficult when all I've got is her, Levi Alice, SE and a dog for a Hollow Waif, and I want that dog to die away from the enemy. But she is still my favourite character. I don't have my book with me so I can't comment on Jack Daw, but I don't remember there being a "discard 2 cards or you are dead" ability. What is it that he can do? I just skimmed his page because it was late and there was so much writing on it. I'm thinking of spending a couple of turns getting Alice and the SE into position whilst storing high rams in my hand, then when the time is right, sending out Levi with some bad spells so that my oponent spends a couple of cards defending. Now send in SE and Alice and saying, "You've got no cards left, get those models off the table." I gt this idea when I was using McM against Sonia. I used a couple of cards to summon 2 Flesh constructs in her face, leaving me with 3 cards (not sure where the other one went) and she used her instakill trigger to drain my hand and kill one construct, with no hand left the other FC didn't last long all alone with 2 witchlings near him. It was my first game with McMourning and I was a bit reckless. I was so excited about my new master that I actually forgot to pick any schemes! I did learn however, that when you have less than a full hand, a couple of instakill triggers against you is a really bad thing. and in Malifaux Bad Things Happen. I'm facing the same opponent tonight. Edited January 13, 2012 by iamthefly
CannonFodder
your best bet is to build a list around discard abilities and include them. This way you keep 1 trigger in your hand, and try to get you opponent down to 1 card, then do it. most of the insta-kills are the same suit and you don't want to rely on 1 suit for your entire force. I think some of the other discard abilities are different suits.

Just a note, but the Steamborg Executioner still does damage when activating decapitate. There's a reason he's so expensive.
011121
given that it's levi we're talking about you may want to turn the instakill on your own master at times.

Hateful Darkblack
Bete Noire is super easy to bring out for Leveticus. Your units die all the time! Especially Leveticus himself!

iamthefly
I'v checked the book and yeah, Jack Daw has a 12" range insta-kill spell and a CC attack triggering on a mask, which means you arn't totally relyant on Rams. Bete's trigger would be good as Levi can give her the crow She'd probably need, but too tricky to reliably get her out for him. So at 30ss: Leveticus, 1ss Canine remains Rusty Alice Jack Daw Steamborg Executioner Wave Jack and Levi in their face, covering with Alice while keeping the squishy SE back protecting the waifs until the right moment. I'm trying this when I get the chance. Not against Sonia though.
shakes1066
You did say you wanted to hold and store high rams in your hand, this is not very easy with Levi as you will only be getting two cards from Alyce to cycle in, unless you are killing Levi and then you throw your whole hand and draw a new one. I try not to have any minions in a Levi crew that are card dependent as you will always get let down when the old chap dies. Luke.
