Welcome to "Orboros Painting Lair of Doom and Suffering" short O.P.L.O.D.A.S.

First of all things you could say that i am a complete painting newcomer. The first minis ive ever painted were my silurids i uploaded a while ago, which i will upload here as my first post i think.

That was in August and since then i painted a handfull of new minis from different ranges and i want to share them here and now.

I don't have a Lightbox for photos but i usually have very good lightning at my window so you will see my miniatures mostly from that perspective.

I would appreciate feedback and help.

But now enjoy or don't enjoy ;)

For your first minis those are pretty nice and show a lot of potential. the only way to become a better painter is by painting. Practice does make perfect. And don't let painting eyes frustrate you, it's tricky till you get the hang of it but you will.

And I really like that Anima Tactics figure, never saw him before but I'll have to pick him up (though I have no use for him, loke maybe a hundred other minis in my collection.) Thanks for sharing.

Soo i wasn't able to paint the whole Von Schill box yet but i finished the Freikorps Specialist. In the beginning i wanted to speed paint the crew but i didn't like how they turned out so i began to think how i could save them from beeing scrapped and repainted.

After playing some rounds of battlefield 3 i came to the conclusion to give them a camouflage colour scheme. I think it turned out pretty nice.

So here is the Specialist for you, rest of the crew follows later this month :)

Another day, another upload. In fact two. I was quite lazy painting those two because they are only 4 points (yeah i know bad excuse). The light was bad today so the pics turned out quite dark. I couldnt resist the urge to upload stuff though.

More to come on Saturday i guess.

I hate painting eyes

This is a very common way of painting eyes for new painters so don't be hard on yourself.

A little tip to get better results quick: paint the eye black and then just put a little dot (or triangle if you can) either side of where the pupil is. If you want the model to be looking in any direction other than straight ahead, make one 'white' smaller and the other larger.

Another eye method is to paint them as a "cross." Go left to right with white and a stright line down with black. Most of the Mali models are so small that this looks less cat like then a 40k figure would.

The way you painted the eyes is great for a wild horse or crazy guy. Von badass is pretty much just a crazy guy. I actually like him with those crazy eyes.

Soul Puppet is absolutely right, used to do the white with black dot and had much the same crosseyed results or some such. But never would have thought of the black to white method till someone mentioned it to me last year.

Nice painting thus far.
