Huang Da Wei
This may seem like a dumb question cos I am a newbie but could someone explain how I use a totem to full effect. Ophelia is ready to hit the table now I have painted the young la croix but I am not sure how they work. The magical extension gets used how? its a 1 spell but is it during her activation and from her AP or is it in the youngs activation and comes from his? TimeLapse
Its durring the youngs activations think of it as him useing a spell tought to him by ophelia. So his CA and his Ap are used. Though its not something I would do often, use the young as cheep gremlins to fill your ranks.
Serigala
You generally use the Young'uns Magical Extension to cast Right between the Eyes, once per turn. It takes one action, and uses their own Ca stat, but as long as you successfully hit, you can be confident with that you should get a severe damage, or will be able to cheat one in. With three Young 'uns thats potentially 15 damage a turn - not to be sniffed at. You could choose to cast another of Ophelias spells, but thats probably the best one. Huang Da Wei
so the little guys get to cast in their activation with her spells but their Ca.
Bucket Monkey
Yep that's right, they can only use magical extension once each per activation. Also if they need to get out of harms way use their pistol as it pushes them back an inch per shot, make the most of tiny too, the negative to ranged attacks really helps keep them alive if they are playing the mid-range annoyance type of game. Dumb Luck
Yup. If they get tied up in hand to hand fighting, never try for a disnegage move. Fire your pistol and get a free push away.
Huang Da Wei
i think in h to h they would die pretty soon
CannonFodder
i like the 3 of them with a slop hauler behind a building, move out cast the spell, move back, heal. repeat. Don't forget they can channel and use soulstone when casting her spells.
Omenbringer
i think in h to h they would die pretty soon Dont most gremlins? The Lacroix crew like the Ortegas (for the most part anyways) should avoid melee as much as possible.
Huang Da Wei
I ran O and her family through the crew generator and I can take all the guys from the box set plus 1 young and 1 bayou gremlin (his mate) in a 25ss game. Would that be a good starting point to get used to how they play?
Omenbringer
I might just drop the Bayou Gremlin and take all three Youngins, leaving you with 3 Soul Stones in the cache. This way you can companion all your models (if you want) without having to use a 0 action (and having her go first) to do it. Also you can spam the hell out of Right between the Eyes with the youngins.
Shank Seamus!
Remember that young'ns have gun fighter too.. no need to run from combat when 3 young's turn round and blast the attacker away.. and the 1 inch push is normally enough to keep them out of trouble from those pesky exploding models.. pretty sure due to their tiny (could be wrong) and orphelias ability to ignore woops you can fire into combats with them involved and them be ok.. Omenbringer
... pretty sure due to their tiny (could be wrong) and orphelias ability to ignore woops you can fire into combats with them involved and them be ok. Shooting into melee still has plenty of risks (mainly in wasted AP). To be clear though: Tiny does not prevent them from being hit when in melee (it only gives a to Ranged Attacks and Ranged Spells targeting them, so if they end up being the target after randomization, it isn't likely the strike will succeed which is a good thing but also means you wasted the AP). Used to It prevents whoops (to be correct it reduces it's impact to only 1 Wd on a severe flip) from a Young Lacroix (or Bayou Gremlins) missing but doesn't offer any real protection from firing into melee (since once again it is a random determination of the actual target, meaning a wasted AP). Real protection from hurting your own models when shooting into melee comes from having low cards in your control hand to cheat down the flip ensuring the miss (for when your model comes up as the random winner of the flip). CrazyCarl
Ophelia and all the Kin have Aim High, so you can fire into combats that have Young'un's involved (so long as the target isn't Ht 1) and be fine. That said, the opponent still gets +1 Df for each of your guys it's in melee with, so it's still not a great idea.
Omenbringer
Thanks CrazyCarl, Aim High is probably what he was thinking of, I do love that ability.
