Xander
Well, I have some back designs in the works. The face cards are all ready, I guess I could preview those...
Geckilian
Would certainly be good to see them, yes. Of course, you could just PM them to me, same thing and I'm sure no one would mind.
Xander
Here they are, for your viewing pleasure. I still might add some more wear to the face cards so they aren't as solid-colour looking. Geck, the 2nd back is the design you pointed me to, slightly modified of course. Not sure I want to use it though, as I didn't design it, and it's not GPL licensed. Of course, any custom back can be used, and run through my cracked paint layer. EDIT: Oops, forgot to toggle my blood stain (WMS) layer. Oh well.
Geckilian
Again, very nice. The jack has the great 'haters gonna hate' pose, which makes me chuckle. Looking at it all does make me think a darker red would help, and as you say more weathering on the face cards to match the backgrounds would help it all fit together. Personally I'd opt for a faded and cracked black back, but that's just me.
Xander
All black back? Or like the box with the border like the sample I showed? Thanks for the feedback, yeah, these reds look way lighter on this PC than the one I designed them on, will have to darken them for sure. Geckilian
Oh, with the border. I should have said black instead of red on the backs. Where your name is you could also see if you can work in the rose and dagger, the only faction not represented by a suit. No idea what you'd make it look like though. Xander
I still need to design the Jokers... I wonder if the Rose and Dagger would work in those. Although I have not shown them, the other face cards feature their faction colours. All face cards have red, black and yellow (Outcasts), and then either Grey (Guild), Green, Blue or Purple. So I worked Outcast's yellow into the cards, but not their symbol, since they don't in fact have their own suit. But yes, maybe on the joker... Evaine
Wow! The custom decks are a great idea, and you did a really good job on them. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Twizz666
the face cards blew my mind. I will agree with Geckilian that black might look better on the back. but i would probably have to see them side by side to have a real opinion. and while i like both designs, my personal preference would be the second back. I like the vines and fern leaves myself. you inspire.

Xander
Thanks for the kind comments guys! Expect an update sometime on Tuesday (it's a long weekend here in Canada, woo!) Keep all the suggestions coming. They are always very useful.
El Indio
Amazing! Very flavorful, weathered, and a great, subtle reference tool in the bargain. I only wish there were some way to slip in the Weak/Moderate/Strong key, which, being a new player, I find to be one of the most practical elements of the standard Fate deck. Xander
Thanks for the comments, Indy! The WMS is handled by blood droplets: 3 for S, 2 for M, 1 for W. I forgot to include them in these samples, but a few pages back you can see them.
Xander
Back again with an update. Modified one of the Jack face card vectors into this Black Joker Grim Reaper. Thoughts?
Geckilian
Simply flawless! Very much liking that one.
Xander
What do you think I should do for the red joker? Something Angelic like the Malifaux cards? Something jester like? I am thinking of making a rose/dagger logo to put on these in the same place a suit would normally go (within the square). Thoughts?
Ratty
Angel would make sense.. Against Death, I wouldn't go with a Jester.
Geckilian
Angel would work, after all the normal deck has the red angel, and the puppet deck pokey Vik has wings too. The logo where the suit would be is a good idea. Any mock ups of it?
Ratty
see how it looks I'm not 100% sure that the logo on the Joker is necessary.
Ratty
Now the real question.. can you turn a J into a 0 and a 14...
Xander
No mock ups of the outcast suit yet, but as ratty says, it may not be needed, we'll see. I guess I will attempt something Angelic for the Red Joker. It may not be necessary to make Joker into 0 and 14, as the Malifaux decks themselves do not do such a thing. I plan on using A for Aces, which are 1, since the Malifaux cards don't even have numbers on the 1 card. However, I welcome any brilliant ideas. Remember one of my primary objectives is that these cards should be able to be used as normal playing cards by people who don't even know what Malifaux is. DeusInnomen
A steampunk angel would be an interesting counterpoint to Death.
