candiedwhiskey
I've finally decided to jump into Malifaux, picking a faction and models that look cool and that would be fun to paint. The long and short of it is I decided on the Guild with Sonnia as a Master, because anti-magic is a grand thing (at least in theory...). Some Guild Guard made their way onto my table as I like how the models look. Yes, the basing hasn't been done yet, and I'm regretting that. Thing is, I didn't (and still don't, really) know what to do with the bases. I've done dirt and static grass with my Warhammer armies, but that's not as characterful as what Malifaux offers. More mulling to be had. I've been having sizing problems with pictures in drafting this post. Is it just the Preview Post feature that's making pictures of any size look huge, or is there a certain size that the board software requires? Either way, here is a link to my Picassa album with all the minis that I have finished sofar. Sonnia is about halfway done, then onto basing! Inside the album is a picture of some blue crystal thingamajigs. I liberated them from a chem lab. They'll do nicely as Soulstones spilling out of crates or bags. Now I just have to find/make crates and bags...

candiedwhiskey
Nice!! Where in NC are you? Concord, and I see you're in Huntersville. Do you happen to play at PBKW in Cornelius? I might have met you in passing.
Deadpool
From what I can see they look good. The guild part of me is glad there is another player. But the anarchist part of me wants to plan your demise. Then the neverborn side will kill you. And then finally the resurection part will bring you back.......with that said welcome to Wyrd! dublindawg
Great looking models, I started doing a Criid crew, but I got distracted by Seamus and his lovely girls. Now I want to go back and finish up Sonnia and her friends.
candiedwhiskey
fantastic looking crew , especially Samael , thanks for the inspiration. I'll keep an eye out for yours to see what mine has inspired! Let's see how the boards handle large-sized images... come oooon auto-resize. Edit: Sweet, it worked! I'm going to touch-up her pants before varnishing, but what you see is what you get! I'm rather pleased with how she came out, especially the red cloak as red is a color that always gives me a hard time. And for my next trick: basing! Here's my box of, well, stuff. Various things, gears, bits... a sort of high-end trash bin.
candiedwhiskey
I had forgotten Criid's sword, whoopsie... Now it's actually time to start basing, and I've found out a neat thing. If you cut a wine cork into disks, these disks will 90% of the time fit quite nicely onto a 30mm Malifaux base. And the crew have been matte varnished and the base tabs clipped off. I'll try to get around to grinding the little stubs left on the bottom of their feet off tonight as there was company over last night, and a dremmel is a rather rude tool. dsmiles
Nice work. I like the way that red trenchcoat looks on Sonnia. (I went with a standard weathered leather look, myself.)
candiedwhiskey
Nice work. I like the way that red trenchcoat looks on Sonnia. (I went with a standard weathered leather look, myself.) I'm glad you like it Some exciting progress has been made! All I have to do is attach the crew to their respective bases and I will feel ready to go get thumped at the store on Thursday! Everyone and their bases: A little deck/patio thingamajig: BOOM magic happens: More magic: Oh, and Sonnia's sword is one of the fiddliest things I have ever tried to attach to a mini. Are there any tips on keeping it solidly on, or do I need to carry some superglue with me wherever I go?
candiedwhiskey
And here we go, right on schedule! Heading to the store today to pick up Taelor and perhaps an Austringer, as I think they'll make for good additions, the former for hitting stuff with a hammer and the latter for that grand 12" range (and Deliver Orders). Yes/no?
jeffb007
Love the models, great work. I would definitely get an Austringer, they do a great job at taking things out long range without requiring LoS, and deliver orders is very handy too. Now the trick is getting them on bases before priming and painting dsmiles, thankee kindly

Evaine
Very nice painting and basing job! I'll definitely use it for inspiration when I eventually get a witch hunter crew to go with my new Sonnia alternate sculpt and avatar.
