To start and build up for the tale of a malifaux painter i'm getting my hand in with a bit of painting, however my photographing skills are poor to say the least!

Judge WIP 1 & 2, base is custom, my guild cobble bases are my first attempt at using greenstuff, however i feel that they get the job done!

Outside i get such effects when i put the mini in the sun or it is too bright.

I got best results in the early evening in the shadow.

You will have to get a mini tripod, if possible, got mine for 9,99€.

One of these days i will try it outside with my "photobox" a la jar.

It is 1,99€, so the costs of a nice photosetup aren`t really high, cause the daylight lamp for me developed to a must have for painting sessions in the evening. But i´m still experimenting with photograpy myself.

In my camera is a auto-setting "macro" which i found gives me the best results, but i fear you will have to experiment with the settings.

The pics themselves are edited with GIMP, but only to correct them if they are to bright or dark and to get them to the right size.

@ DAGabriel I like the look of the ikea light bin! Never been a big night time painter due to working nights and prefer to paint mid afternoon or mornings as a relaxer! Using photoshop to crop and resize, may attempt to use more features but feel it's a little like cheating.

@deadpool. Custom this is my first attempt at sculpting or using greenstuff.

Cheating? Would be cheating to paint with it, but correcting the lighting? Don`t think so. I often use the program to light up unwanted shadows, f.e. under hats, to make them better visible.

I think as long as you use it to show your mini in the best light it is ok, you shouldn`t correct mistakes on the pic but on the mini.

But one of the best side effects of taking wips is that they will show you mistakes more clearly than your own eyes!

Maybe that was a bit strong, maybe I see the lighting and post photo as the boring bit, I'll attempt to get as good as possible rather than spend another 30mins to edit on photoshop. I always think the quick fix always appear to harsh, that and I mostly use a iPad for posting etc. No offence to the people who spend the time, however I'll try improving my photography skills before playing with photoshop more than cropping and resizing.

Cheers all paints are GW

The weapon team was base coat black, tin blitz, dwarf bronze, sepia wash, more dwarf bronze highlights poss even a little chainmail added for final high lights. The verdigris is 50/50 hawk turquoise and dark angel green watered down with water to make a wash. Slap it all over the bronze and use a brush to take off the excess so it pools where you want it. The technique is based on the GW guide to painting the screaming bell on their website.

The rat ogre was just boltgun metal and a heavy delvan mud wash.
