ok, quick (hopefully) question...

If I have some malifaux minis that I have inherited (plastics) and they have been stuck to the base already (the plastic ones supplied), how easy is it to remove them?  Is there some miracle solution that will break down the glue on the feet without melting the model?  I don't know exactly what glue was used...

Unfortunately, Americans have a reputation for going bigger and bolder, and that includes being stupid- our morons have to be dumber and louder than other morons. The "let's all agree that Americans are worse than any of us" lasted a bit too long, and the closest counterpoint was "hey, I'm in New England- the people in the South are the real idiots." For a moment I thought you guys were trolling me.

To move on to less serious topics...I can't argue about the name "football." It makes no sense. I think "gridiron" (which is slang for the field itself here) is a far more appropriate name- it conjures images of a grinding slog up the field to score, which is the core of the game.

The problem with arguing about barbecue is what we call barbecue in the Southeast is different from what people in other parts of this country call it, much less the rest of the world. That said, who does smoked/slow-cooked meats (as in 4-24 hours) that you think stacks up? There are some that are pretty close- Mexican barbecue is good, and Koreans probably do short ribs better than St. Louis. California does this thing that's a take on Portuguese barbacoa that, while I don't consider it "barbecue" (too much direct application of flame), it does sound amazing all the same.

Having fun while watching a movie is important.

Depends on the movie. I've watched plenty of movies that were rough to get through, and that I won't watch again. I still need to watch Grave of the Fireflies (anime, by the way) even though I'll probably be depressed for a week afterwards. That said, if expectations are set for pure entertainment (like with the Kingsmen), it had better deliver.

There's some really good Anime out there. Also, some really shitty ones. Like with everything.

This. This so hard. It's like saying all comedy movies suck because most of what passes for "comedy" these days is the same trite shock humor. Most people think Dragon Ball Z (fun to a point, but silly and annoying after a while), Naruto (not a bad story, but better in print), or "porn cartoons" (which have existed since cartoons- I once saw an example from 1923) when they think of anime. The odd-as-hell titles of different series don't help any.

Most anime that makes it to export is hyperkinetic action, because that's what sells to the critical youth demographic. There are plenty of awesome series out there- it's just like music these days in that it takes a lot of digging.

Two recommendations-

1) Master Keaton. Take hard-boiled detective stories and add a few dashes of Indiana Jones here and there. It's great, and could probably be done in live action pretty easily.

2) If you like science fiction, you should give Ghost in the Machine (the first movie or the Stand-Alone Complex TV Series) a try. Hard-hitting action, heavy political plots, also easy on the anime cliches.

Barbeque?

I have to admit...not my thing..  ;)

Dude, if you haven't had BBQ out of a random man's shack in the backwoods of the American south, you haven't lived. It's a religious experience. I will take well made BBQ (my preference is Texas, but Memphis and St Louis do good BBQ, not a fan of the Carolina style) over almost every fancy-pants French or Italian meal out there. Hashtag "Burnt Ends For Lyfe"

Also with regards Anime, its not my thing either.  Don't get me wrong I will watch it if it comes highly recommended but I won't go out of my way to watch stuff.

I think as I get older I am becoming a fussy bugger.  My free time that I could spend watching films etc is getting less and less with a young family so anything I do watch tends to be either a series I follow or the odd film or two.

I don't have the inclination or time to track down hidden gems anymore..sad but true.

Can't go wrong with the classics - GotM, Vampire Hunter D, basically anything by Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away is one of the best movies I've ever seen, let alone best anime/animated movies).

I'm not really a big fan of meat anyway and fish is terrible on the BBQ!

I don't eat Beef, Pork or Lamb etc..very rarely touch chicken.  I love seafood though.  Also my wife is vegetarian so meat is definitely a no go in the home, but she doesn't object to me eating chicken or fish at restaurants etc..

Check out Spirited Away. It's a work of art combined with excellent story telling.

It all started with an American fearing to be ridiculed. I said very early that the only reason for ridicule is narrowmindedness (this happens very often in Europe). That's the real counterpoint. The rest was just joking about cliches.

That's why I didn't want to start arguing about barbecue. If you think a slow-cooked barbecue is a good barbecue, you are wrong already.

I will happily joke about American (and European) stereotypes, but I will fight anyone who disparages good BBQ.

Am genuinely interested about what you think BBQ is, Dirial.

In the US there is grilling (cook something fast over high heat, commonly and incorrectly reffered to as BBQ), and BBQ (cook over low heat for long time). Is it that in Europe what American's call "grilling" is usually called "BBQ"? It could just be an issue of semantics.

Not saying that one is better, and really at that point it's personal preference so all joking aside no one is really wrong.
