My Father is from Glasgow and my Mother is from Yorkshire. I just grew up in Dorset for a long time. Coming from a military background my family moved around a lot. They were all amazed until he said "The house I live in is older." Stonehenge is amazing! So sad that you cannot walk around in it anymore. I hope someday to actually see them. 99% of the countries America goes to War with have a minimum of 2000 years more history than the American's do. He's his own kind. Hahaha, modern English does have it's roots in Germanic, throw in some Latin, Norman and a bit of Viking speak as well as a few other bits and bobs and hey presto.
