Kaane Feinwong
What are your ideas around current or future Malifaux models that make good Native Americans and what do you think would need to be done to alter them? Joss is the only Native American so far plot wise, but there are others that could easily be Native American, it's just not mentioned. I plan on making Marcus a shaman. He's going to take some mighty fine putty work to give him trinkets and such. Coryphee redone in Squaw clothes would be really nice. They'd go well with the Marcus/Shaman crew theme. The only problem here would be filing down those nice dresses and either carving out something leathery with frills out of the metal or starting over and sculpting something with green stuff. Shikome could be done with a Native American theme. With a little work on the hair to take it down a bit or just file out a bit for a headband and extend the hair a tad to make it look like feathers. Maybe add some beaded armor here and there. She's not wearing much anyway so adding some green stuff for additional clothing shouldn't be too much of a problem. Bishop I think could also be Native American with little to no additional work. Just a good paint scheme. Gunsmith...A Native American Gunsmith is totally possible. Ideas? Thoughts? the imp
Conquest Miniatures will be releasing a set of Native American zombies next month. Some of their Hurons would also be suitable fore use as desperate mercenaries or, with a little conversion, December Acolytes.
The Madman
I would suggest looking through the Chronoscope line from reaper and even the Black Scorpion line they have some cool western themed figs it's likely you'll find what you're looking for
Kaane Feinwong
Perhaps I should clarify. I'm not looking for replacement models but to discuss ideas about painting and modifying existing or future Malifaux models as Native Americans. That's my fault. I should have been more clear. I'll adjust that first line. Edited March 9, 2011 by Kaane Feinwong
AkumaKaze
The other model I would look at when it comes out would be the desperate mercenary. He has that sort of "civilized Indian" look to him with the top hat and tattered clothes. Without my book in front of me I can't give any specifics as to what to add/remove but I had that thought when I looked at him the first time. Kaane Feinwong
Ok. Started working with a Shikome last night and it ended in complete disaster. I remember reading somewhere on this board that trying to add pants to an existing model never really works out. Unless Indians wore parachute pants, this is a true statement. I might also add that the wings did not want to stay on! So, tonight, I'm going to try to use Miranda as a base and pin the Shikome wings and feet. I'll probably just glue the feet, however. This would minimize my sculpting and Miranda has a nice Native American look. In addition, it could sub for Miranda or Shikome either way or even Miranda shapeshifting into a Shikome. In any case, it would have a Native American look with minimal sculpting. Comments or suggestions? Kaane Feinwong
Sure. I'll be honest with you, this is my first model I've pinned. I pinned both wings, one leg and then pinned her to the base. With the right tools, it wasn't too hard.
