Lord Gordonis
Just recently started playing malifaux (end of jan), I got the sonnia criid box set beccuase i like to blow stuff up and i thought this would be a great box set to get as I love the models. So far i've played 10 games and went to a tournament mid feb with the set. Ive found that I cant make a good themed list with sonnia as each game is different on what models I use and how each models do each game. Ive been playing against mainly other guild (lucius (sp?), lady j), ramos, LCB, somer teeth. The usual strategy for me is to either stay back a they come to me, or rush them to get near the objective whilst moving about the board distracting them from their objective. This my usual list I take: Sonnia (cache 4ss) Sam Hopkins Guild Guard 3x witchling stalkers Friekorps trapper Overall cache = 8ss (max) I would like to have an all-round list with combat and shooting to help sonnia take on . I dont really want to take the ortegas as im going for a list that is nearly to the background of Sonnia. Thanks for the help! LG
Mr. Bigglesworth
I would suggest two Austringer versus the guild guard and trapper. I don't have book so not sure if that is even exchange but trapper is too costly for what guild have in comparison. I can understand you don't want to take Nino, ryle might be a more thematic shooter just don't know what you would wanna lose to fit him. Lord Gordonis
yeah ok cool, im going to try out the 2 austringers, I dont like model of ryle but I dont think he will fit in with sonnia at all, is it worth taking her totem???? Heres the list that Im going to be playing with today: Sonnia Sam Executioner 2x Austringers witchling stalker/guild guard (dont know which one to take) Overall cache = 8ss (max)

Also helps a bunch with enemy card-burning. The totem...doesn't feel that awesome. Maybe the proxy, in certain situations..
Mr. Bigglesworth
Agreed her totem really doesn't fit to play but is a great model to display with het I'd you are a painter too. Agreed witching fit better. I love the executioner his speed will match the crew which is good and bad.
ducat
After reading the book two storys, I would say granny fits in rather well with sonia's fluff. So although you are not going "ortega" just using granny feels ok to me. And as she has even more blast damage fun, whats not to love. Also putting a shotgun wedding on a austringer can add quite a nice sudden mass (fake = deliver orders) companion chain with granny, austringer, sonia, totem. I quite like the purifying flame totem, I have started using it often these days with sonia. I think it is a model that you have to work at to get the most out of it though. Lord Gordonis
Cool, had a look at granny ortega and she is amazing. Had a game yesterday against Ramos, and won the strategy. Out of the game was that puryfying flame is awesome in certain situations, the 2 austringers are really good, and still not convinced about the executioner still but ive only used in 2 games so far. Going to play with this list or a few more games to see how it goes. LG
Mr. Bigglesworth
Executioner has a lot of synergy with Lady J... last rites. I feel his slowness works best if he in a crew with faster moving high value models or a lot of cover. He goes against the grain of the guild by not having a range strike so he takes a bit of getting use to. I find he shines with Perdita being able to obey him up the field can put him in melee range a lot easier.
MadArcanist
by the by Im having a hard time trying to figure out how to help. Mostly because you don't wanna take the Ortega's (and in terms of fluff since they are mainly for hire I don't see why Sonnia wouldn't take them, because she would do anything to win) Overall I never really liked the Executioner on her. The stalkers have much more utility and plus when you can easily just blow them up and replace them (with Violation of Magic and them being at 1 health) I like them over anyone else for Melee with her. Guards are really good against the Ressers imo mainly because there gun is very nice. and also if your looking for a totem option I would like to suggest the student of conflict, but that's personal preference for me XD overall you seem to have a good enough grasp with her and an understanding, in terms of fluff though, you might start gimping yourself ;-) I believe in writing my own stories with my figures. Lord Gordonis
had some more games last night by swapping the executioner out for granny ortega very nice abilities tho i found that I use too many models to be activated at once and didnt take full advantage in the turn that I acctivated it. If I do decide to use the ortegas which models should I use with sonnia??? LG
Mr. Bigglesworth
Nino is almost an auto include in guild. Papa can add a lot more blast like granny. Santiago rocks but a bit under utilized. The 2 I am likely to take is papa and Nino.
hippieshopper
I like Francisco a lot. Chucking a crappy card to reflip is pretty nice. As to the OP, why not fill in the gaps with Witchling Stalkers?

The 2 I am likely to take is papa and Nino. Well for pure blast I think Bigglesworth is right Granny and Papa are nice. And I find it VERy hard to build a guild crew and not have Nino be the first model I add. As for Santiago and Fransico I haven't had much luck with them for some reason. It might be the way I am playing them, but even when playing Perdita as my master I usually leave these two behind for other choices. Mr. Bigglesworth
Santiago is a beast, hard to kill, bulletstorm is amazing. Wade in makes him a fiend. Paired pistols means his cb 5 is now decent and if he is 4 example his cb is 7. He is an even bigger threat than Nino with critical strike. I wouldn't take him with Sonia but he is in my Perdita crew 9 out of 10. Fran has failed to impress me. He is good and is great with Ortega alpha strike but only shows up in 35 ss. Lord Gordonis
As to the OP, why not fill in the gaps with Witchling Stalkers? They are good, dont get wrong but I found that they are quite redundent in most of the games I played them with tbh, thats why I only go with 1 atm to see if they are still useful or not. What do you think of the witchling stalkers??? LG

LG I have just started to use them but I like having 3 around because it is easy for somone to get rid of 1 of them so I like haveing a redundant amount of them around just for that reason. I certainly like them better then Death Marshals for the point cost. Thought for 1 more point you the Austringer and I would take them every time. Mr. Bigglesworth
Witching in a group are easy to get into melee. Also against melee heavy crews they are a big threat to kill because of immulation. I love them nino, make you opponent discard his hand, than headset away.
