WEiRD sKeTCH
That's an older paintjob. Nice find!
Buck Dog
One of the old guard may correct me as I am relative new comer, but from what I understand, Wyrd were a miniature company long before Malifaux came along, so some mini's predate the game. Bishop The Soul Havester was one such mini, who was then rebooted as the Bishop we know (and some of us love) when Malifaux was launched. A number of the Mercenary models predate Malifaux. Doctor Amos
He may have been a Soul Harvester at some point. The fluff does talk about such practices.
Keltheos
Buck, you are correct. Wyrd was creating miniatures long before they decided to make a game. Then they wanted to be sure fans of their miniatures could play what they already had in said game. Win/win.
nerdelemental
And Bish was something grim and soulsharvesty for just a minute, but the rules were wonky and there clearly needed to be something more beefy for Viki's crew and he didn't really fit the Res look at the time. Something developmental like that. But that was a long time ago! Eric will agree - Bishop was on the carving block longer and more often than almost any mini of Book I. We were all pretty fascinated by him. Given the amount of players that say he's "worthless" and the amount that say "he's too good for his cost" I think he hit the rare sweet spot of game design! Okay.. So I've heard alot say that he's worthless, I've heard a few argue that he's 'okay for his cost', and I suppose there's even been some that said he's good, but I -never- heard anyone saying that he is too good. Just sayin'..
Doctor Amos
My friend's B suffered an unfortunate relic-hammer-related injury in our last game and died before he threw a single punch.
Keltheos
Bishop's one of those models you'll either swear by or swear off. He's quite versatile in melee once you get him up there. And, if you have the right amount of terrain out, that should be usually.
Sandwich
I've taken Bishop in a couple games with Seamus, and I don't really like him. He's almost equal to the cost of 3 Belles and well, yeah. That's not to say he's bad. He just doesn't really doesn't deal that much damage. I've found my Belles and their luring and teeth and nails to be much more alluring. I'm sure he's got his niche, or else he wouldn't exist. He's probably a beast with the Viks, though our Viki players don't use him in favor of ranged.
LoboStele
I think he's best when used against crews that you know will have a limited number of SS users. Like, I would NEVER use him against a Colette crew. But Bishop's ability to buff his own Cb or Df, on top of already solid numbers, would mean that most crews of non-SS users will have a tough time hitting him, and a tough time defending against his attacks. And like Kel said, if your playing area has lots of terrain, Bishop's +2 Df boost, on top of some for cover makes him a downright nasty piece to hit. Sandwich
Definately. I think his best time to shine would be against any guild master aside from Lady J because he can lock down ranged units.
