maxvon_d
So I pretty much got my McMourning crew finished in time for the tournament we had here in London this past weekend. Less said about my performance in game the better, but I won a Malifaux Colouring Book for the paintjobs on my crew. Woohoo! Anyway, here's the crew. Minus Mortimer - who is still in need of a bit of touching up before he gets his photos. Or head on over to my blog where you can read about my ignominious defeats in the tournament, or a little commentary on the painting of the crew. For McMourning and the others you can see shots in my WiP thread here on the Wyrd Forums.
JMGraham
*hobbygasm* Absolutely wonderful! Very well painted crew with a great cohesive color selection. There are lots of nice details buried in there. I particularly like the "Faster'N You" tattoo on the gunslinger. This has me wanting to work on my McMourning crew! Clousseau
Didn't really get a chance to look at these on Saturday - wish I had now. Excellent job, and worthy winner.
TimeLapse
Varry cool. I kinda want to see how you would paint Bete.
maxvon_d
Cheers guys @TimeLapse: I don't have Bete, but I would like to have a crack at her. The sculpt has always been a weird one for me and looks kinda hard to get a good result with. Tempted to try now though.
Velsharoon
Bete is great fun to use in a game. I agree the sculpt isnt the best but looking at your stuff here I am sure you could overcome that with ease
dgraz
Great job. I was following your thread as you were painting them but I didn't see a group pic. They really look fantastic all together. I love the Gunslinger and have a small piece of advice for him. If you take your flesh color and water it down ALOT, wash it over your tatoos until it is dark enough for you. This takes the tattoos from looking as if they're painted on the skin to looking as if they are embedded under the skin. I really like your attention to detail. Illustrange
ah thats really nice liking the color choices etc. joker inspired mcmourning.. toying with that as well tough mine is semi painted allready. and I before never really liked the convict gunslinger, he felt not fitting the setting, but this one really does the job for me nice! I myself am planning on using miss pack as a belle in mcmournings list, she's a more convincing mcmourning themed belle as a standard nurse to me
Talos
Was great seeing these in person last week. Really love your gunslinger. I came just above you in the tourney damn gremlins beating me 6-0 ! Edited November 12, 2010 by Talos
G3ck0___
Real good job on all of them. Especially the blue glow around the dogs eyes. Was that intentional, because if it was i would like to know how you did it. I started assembling my ressers but now, after seeing the paintjob on your mini's, i got cold feet to start painting them. maxvon_d
If you take your flesh color and water it down ALOT, wash it over your tatoos until it is dark enough for you. This takes the tattoos from looking as if they're painted on the skin to looking as if they are embedded under the skin. I did that to some extent but possibly not enough. Definitely a learning for next time. Especially the blue glow around the dogs eyes. Was that intentional, because if it was i would like to know how you did it. Yep, it was intentional. I wanted all the resurrected minions to have glowing eyes. I tried to highlight the eyeball from turquoise green up to white and then as I recall I used coloured glazes around the eye area to represent the light spilling out. Strongest and brightest nearest the eyes. Probably best example was the pug: McMourning's Dogs by Maxvon_d, on Flickr
Baron M
Sweet looking crew. Particularly like the convict gun-slinger, but they're all good!
oozeboss
Truly outstanding art. Thank you for the inspiration. (Dead good, bro'!)
Ratty
Your Convict Gunslinger looks amazing. Tempts me to get one, but if I do I'm going to have to resculpt those knee pads though. The models great, but the knee pads feel so GW (we have a spare surface lets stick a skull on it).

maxvon_d
And now I've finished off Mortimer. I'm pretty chuffed how this guy came out for some reason! I think it's the ruddy stubbly face. Yet again, a joy to paint Mortimer, Gravedigger (Malifaux) by Maxvon_d, on Flickr Mortimer, Gravedigger (Malifaux) by Maxvon_d, on Flickr Mortimer, Gravedigger (Malifaux) by Maxvon_d, on Flickr Hmm, photo is a little under-exposed. Sorry about that. As with the other Rezzers, he's based on a Kerr & King Dockside resin. Now that batch are mostly done I intend to get some water effect in there. maxvon_d
Cheers guys. I've been moonlighting with my Neverborn for a bit. Although, that said - I am constructing Sebastian, Bete and some Necropunks as I write this. So, watch this space for more Rezzers soon.
