Omenbringer
The pigies can use a wash, GW Gryphonne Sepia does wonders for the little guys. GW Devlin Mud works well to.
Tiny
Yeh the piglets are just base coated, was just a teaser of whats to come, as i had the camera out for the gremlins anyway. Played mcmourning last night lost! 2vps to 4. I was more or less winning the first half of the game then the gremlins imploded as they like to to. I also got ophelia last night and played a 20ss game vs seamus, amazing how much damage those new gremlins can put out! Although he lured ophelia into combat and finished her off, then everything else crumbled soon after.
AvatarForm
You missed the point of my post. Base inserts are fine, but with your gremlins and multiple copies of the same sculpt on the same base insert leads to a boring outcome. Mix it up and try some scratchbuilds or alternate inserts. Tiny
well i havent doubled up the same sculpt on the same insert anywhere. There are 5 different 30mm base inserts, the mulitples of the same gremlin or piglet havent been used on the same insert. Putting scratchbuilt bases or alternate inserts now after i have 10+ based the same way will just make it look odd and wont make them look like a coherent crew anymore. AvatarForm
Coherency can be achieved through a uniform paintscheme. If you put in some effort, scratchbuilding can look better than the inserts.
Tiny
OK so i've finished off all of my "normal" bayou gremlins. Here's the last 2. And here's the bunch of them together: Next up will be those pigs i was supposed to be doing next then its either mozzies or the warpig not sure yet... Cassarus
I just love Gremlins!
Tiny
Small update finished off my piglets. They were a bit of a punish to finish thats why it took me so long, the sculpts on 2/3 of them aren't the greatest and alot of detail was lost. Here they are: and in their natural habitat! (ie being herded) Cheers for looking guys.
Tiny
Hey guys, just a quick update before i undercoat these bad boys. Been working away at the remaining parts of the crew Just have somer, warpig and 4 mozzies to go. Here's the 4 mozzies ive done. What do you guys think? thanks for looking
daemonkin
Very nice Mozzies. You've managed to make them all unique despite them being the exact same model. I suppose a different paint scheme will further differentiate them. D.
Tiny
Hey guys after a huge bender ive found time to paint. Heres the WIP warpig i'm doing at the moment. I hope to get it all done by tonight. Doing a model on a 50mm base has been a real treat after doing small gremlins. thats it for now hopefully ill be able to post it completed tonight, then on to the mozzies. daemonkin
Looking good so far. Like the base detail. D.
ratboy
This was the miniature that sold me on the gremlins. I loved painting it and think it's a very dynamic and characterful figure! You're going mad on the bases! Keep up the good work.
Tiny
thanks for the kind words guys definite inspiration! Loving these inserts more fun to paint than the models to be honest! Another WiP shot, I've finished the base completely and just now finished base coating the pig, this is how we're looking before washes and highlights. Thanks for looking
Omenbringer
I think I mentioned it earlier, but just in case. Your piggies need some more definition. You did a wonderful on the gremlins but not much with the pigs. A few washes of GW Devlin Mud will do wonders.
Tiny
omenbringer did you see the finished pictures of the piglets? its got a devlan mud was and 2 highlights up to dwarf flesh. I've posted pictures of all the pigs with just base coats. As i mentioned this warpig is just basecoated, only the base is done.
Tiny
ok finally finished the war pig, im reasonably happy with how it came out. The base makes it look soooooooooooooooooo massive next to the other goblins i love it! Heres how he looks: Thoughts? thanks for looking
daemonkin
Skin tone is great. Like the whole model. Very cohesive with the base and the hanging post. D.
Omenbringer
No I didn't see your new piggy photos with the wash and highlights...where are they? As for the above Warpig, now that is "Some Pig" to quote a certain spider. The washes and highlights definately give it the right look. Only thing to me is the noose looks out of place but that is more my preference then anything else.
Tiny
Thanks for the kind words everyone, im about half way through the mozzies, i cant figure out how i want to paint them. I dont like the scheme they did for the online store. @omenbringer, here's the post with the piglets http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showpost.php?p=167587&postcount=33 not the best photo but you get the idea. I think the hanging post suits it but looking at those photos it doesnt look right, maybe in teh whole army shot it'll look better, only 5 models away from that! jmp_mydog
Quick tip, if you have access to Photoshop or some other image editing software, running auto-color and adjusting the levels so the background is pure white will help compensate for the dark shadows in your shots. Omenbringer
You can take a look at the way I did mine either in the gallery link in my profile or this link [url=http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showpost.php?p=127258&postcount=18]here{/url]
Tiny
You know how sales make you lose your mind? Yeh.................... (disclaimer the nico stuff is for a friend) Question to everyone though, which master would you like to see next? Im leaning towards pandora or saggy bags myself. Should be done with the rest of the gremlins and ophelia by next weekend so whatever has the most votes wins!
Tiny
Hey guys more of less finished the mozzies, not really happy with them but i think thats mostly the sculpt. I painted them to look like bees because i think they look way more like bees or wasps than mozzies. Still not 100% done have to do things like paint the wanted sign on and other random details. As always comments and criticism welcome and thanks for looking!
