mattausten86
Hi all,ive just bought the witch hunters box along with a pack of death marshalls,is thsi a good start, what sort of play style will that give me as i have yet to read the rule book (not though choice,my daughter wont let me) cheers matt
gregdorf
Yes it is. The nice thing about the guild is there is a lot less synergy and they generally work well with out having to rely on tricky combos.
Werecat
Plus sonia is incredibly rad, and Sam is a killing machine, so you're good
nilus
Yeah that's a good start. DM are pretty nice units for any guild army and the Witch hunters are fun. I am a big fan of the Ortegas myself so I like to include at least a few of them in my crews most games.
mattausten86
im hoping to get everything for the guild at some point so i can pick and choose for certain games, especcially since ive got one of my gamming buddies into it.... Scorpio
Death Marshals move up and take shots. If you're feeling frisky, they can try to slam their opponents into their coffins. Don't worry about that at first, though. Think of them as hard to kill gunslingers. The Witchling Stalkers are fast little Jawas, tearing across the terrain to get into melee combat. And when they get killed (not if, when) they explode. Just don't run them too far ahead that you won't have a crew to back them up, or to take advantage of their untimely demise. MarmaladeChainsaw
I'm just starting out myself, and also picked up Sonnia and Co. Only played once, and we only used about half the rules, but it was very fun. I look forward to playing again, and doing it right. And even in my very limited experience, yes, Sam is a killing machine. -MC

I looked at it and was underwhelmed.
perplexiti
I had my first proper game last night, I took Sonnia's box set plus her totem. It didn't seem amazing to me, but it was quite handy to be able to throw out 2 or 3 damage spells with Sonnia then use the totem to put up the wall of flame. With its CA being lowish using it to block off parts of the field as it can't be resisted worked pretty well. I won against arcanists with Rasputona 4-0 with the totem casting the wall to stop those pesky gamin running off with the treasure, I was quite lucky with the cards I had though. cerealkiller195
yeah i noticed the more i look at totems the more it is harder for a caster to use theirs effectively. Well at least for guild that is.. I will have to try out Governors Proxy my next game. The added WP to resist Lure and Pandora/Sorrows makes it almost mandatory. perplexiti
I agree, I don't see the point of Perdita's one, although you could say that about all the guild totems, I havn't really looked at the other faction's ones yet. They just seem to be lacking that little something extra. Although I'll be using the Govenors proxy in my next game, and that one sounds quite useful. nightgaunt98c
For the most part, the totems are cheap tweaks that add a little extra to your master. Nothing gamebreaking, but useful in the right situation.
mattausten86
i thought the purifying flame was quite good, although i do do agreeabout perdita totem, and im quite scared to take the governors proxy, mainly due to mee plaing exclusively against pandora. scales of justice looks useful aswel. cheers matt
perplexiti
True, but remember with the governers proxy it's failed morale tests, not WP tests.
mattausten86
aaahhhhhh, did not know that,on a similar note if i fail a Wp duel against pandora, does that mean that i have to fall back??? cheers matt
WEiRD sKeTCH
aaahhhhhh, did not know that,on a similar note if i fail a Wp duel against pandora, does that mean that i have to fall back??? cheers matt You only Fall Back if you fail a Morale duel or if an ability says that you do. perplexiti
Like WEiRD sKeTCH says, you only have to fall back if the duel or ability says you have to. So if you fail and she gets her trigger, you will have to fall back, but at least the governors proxy won't top you.
