Well it's 22 days till Gencon and I am going to attempt to have a Guild Death Marshal's crew painted by then.

Day 1

Assembled and ready to be primed. Executioner is currently on a temp base till I can get to my FLGS and pickup a 40mm Graveyard insert. The Judge's hat came from a reaper Hats and Helmets pack.

Well day one had its first set back. The primer I was using ran out but lucky for me I had a 2nd can(I was putting a grey coat on these guys). Apperently the can of grey I had was bad or old or something because it came out thick and chunky. I didn't notice it till I hit them with the second coat.

Anyways gonna have to give these babies a simple green bath and try again with a fresh new can of primer.

I wonder who gave him that hat idea...

I wonder... :P:

LOL, Technically the Wyrd e-zines. But yes me and Weird chatted about adding a hat and he mentioned the Reaper hat pack. So I would say the idea is at least partially his. But just Partially(no more then 25%). :)

Here is a pic of my Lady Justice in progress. Man that girls got a lot of hair. Still very much a work in progress, but at least I got some paint on a mini.

I went with brown for her hair. Its a little lighter then I wanted, but I plan to hit it with some dark wash. I was shooting for a more raven haired look, but I've found in the past that if I just started with black as a base anything I used to highlight made my models look like they had grey hair.

The choice of purple and green was just because they are colors I rarely work with so I figure I would give it a try.

Have to admit, the hat does look nifty on there.

And once again, I'm wondering why you decided to go without the hat, as I remember the original art and green having the hat, guys. ;)

Can't wait to see these painted.

As for the hair, when you're doing black, the highlights need to be very tight, and it helps to use a touch of blue or brown, rather than greys, before you get to the extreme white shine.

I am finding the camera to be a unforgiving assistant in painting. The bastard shows me every little defect and error I make. Anyways some more work on Lady Justice.

Try using a light blue or grey background that is graduated if you can as white for a background is quite strong .

She is looking pretty good so far .

Thanks, I am still experimenting with minature photos. Still trying to get the right apature and shutter speed combo and playing around with backgrounds to see what brings out the model best.
