Brushmistress Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) Here's a pic of the High Elf on Snow Leopard that took Bronze in Single Fantasy this year. I had wanted to do this model for a couple of years, and finally got around to it this year. I wasn't completely thrilled with the final model - my biggest issue with it is the positioning of the Mage...he was designed to fit on a horse (or at least was before I began chopping him up), and the final pose wasn't what I thought it was going to be. Lots of sculpting/re-sculpting/conversion on this one. As always, comments & critiques are welcome! I also wanted to mention real quick that the goofy Ogress I painted for Dirty Laundry last IP got an honorable mention at Games Day & was the talk of the convention center - so a huge thanks to whoever came up with that theme!!! Ritual Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 I think the biggest problem here is that the rider gives an impression of movement (forward leaning, robes flapping in the wind etc.), whereas the lion is looking very static and is, at most, walking slowly forward. Very nice painting, though. Quote
Nathan Caroland Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 It's windy outside, he is leaning in to get additional heat from the mount. There ya go .. Quote
Peterdita Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 There's that bit of disconnect between the two minis but they are very nicely done. Congrats on the bronze. Quote
Moavoamoatu Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Once again a masterpiece. We can't stop you Jess. Quote
thetang22 Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 (edited) The pose of the rider does seem a bit odd from this angle, but the painting is fantastic. Edited May 12, 2009 by thetang22 Quote
