This fellow is one of the things I was working on last week - I entered him at Games Day Baltimore this year (won the Silver in 40K Large Model). His base had a little more work after these photos...comments of any kind are welcome!

ooooh just responded to your PM and see now I didn'thave long to wait..

Great work as always Jess.. if here was anything I would dare to suggest that might improve it is to add a little more variation in the skin tones of the steed.. These buggers have allsorts of toxins running through teir systems so plenty of opportunity to have some fun with the colour...

great job tough and congrats on the result .. you rock

It's pretty awesome, love the work on the armor and the color choice for the uniform is a nice break frolm the usual grey that most (including me!) tend to use on those models.

Hard for a guy of my level to crit a demon winning model, but a while back I painted one of these and I got an applicable crit which was that I should have varied the color on the hooves (or whatever these crazy drugged horse's actually have for feet) from the coloration of the base a little more. Kind of seperated the model from the base a little.

But it's a an awesome model that's far outside my current skills, so take it as you like it.

I also like DH's suggestion of using crazy color tones on the drugged out horse. In fact, I'm gonna rip off a little bit of his shading choices from the big Cold One rider he did (Varathar, the Dark Guardian?) as I think it's a great idear!

Wow - thanks all for the slew of comments, critiques & grats .... :D

RE: the steed skin tones, I'll see if I can get a better pic for you guys - there are hues of blue, violet & green throughout, particularly near the veins, but they don't show up too well in these photos (maybe just too subtle). I've also got 4 more of these little guys, so maybe I'll just go nuts with one 'em!

And yeah, I agree the hooves should've have been a lighter color - I may see if I can go back and do something with them - they're way too dark and disappear into the base.
