Ritual Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 I have finally broken my lengthy period of creative drought. This is the first piece I've finished since September. It's a 1:15 scale bust sculpted by Romain van den Bogaert and produced by JMD Miniatures. Great deal of fun to paint! I wanted the main focus to be the facial expression, so I kept the gore minimal. I've painted some veins on his head, but made these really subtle too, for pretty much the same reason. Hope you like it! CMON link: http://www.coolminiornot.com/220664 Quote
Brushmistress Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 I love the veins - very subtle indeed, and a beautiful (if such a word can be used for this subject) paint job. Glad you're painting again! Quote
james sequeira Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 top notch, welcome back to the game lol Quote
demonherald Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 as I said from the WIP shot's Anders this isjust a wonderful example of the piece and a great statement of your stye.. so subtle and natural looking with thing going on that aren't immediately apparent but make all the difference.. Great as always seeing new work from you although I do still keep getting nightmares from the first pic I opened up and had this ceepy swine staring at me.. The eye's man ..the damn eyes....... Quote

Malebolgia Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Really, really cool. I love this sculpt enormously and it is awesome to see another one painted. Of course the paint is superb, but what else could we expect . Only thing I'm not really a fan of is the gore. It looks a bit strange with the two drops. Other than that, gribblytastic! Quote
Ritual Posted April 29, 2009 Author Report Posted April 29, 2009 Thanks Marijn! When it came to adding the blood, I admit, I went for style rather than realism. There are a lot of things you can say about how it shouldn't look like that. It was one of the final things I painted and I simply didn't want to risk ruining what I had done before, so I stopped when I liked the look of it, rather than adding more and discovering I didn't like it anymore.
