Malebolgia Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Hey guys, Painted these five miniatures for the current Lead Painter's League. You'll have to paint five miniatures per week if you really want to compete. With ten rounds I can hope to clear out 50 miniatures from the unpainted pile! Each round you'll be paired against another person from the league. I assume the winner gets more points (never read the rules well :tongue2:). Anyway, these are 4 Bob Murch Cultists (awesome sculpts of course) and the cultist from the FU!UK sculpting competition. I painted these last week so the league is a success already for me. 5 less miniatures on the lead pile! Since LPL promotes nice action photos I crammed as much stuff in the light tent as I could The Otherworld statue was a must. I'm going to paint a lot of resin stuff by Fenris Games for these shots during the next weeks. It's mostly going to be Cthulhu so I finally have painted miniatures for the Cosmic Horror rulebook. You can find all entries here by the way: http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?board=22.0 Quote
Brushmistress Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Very cool - there's no way I could do what you're doing (5 minis a week). The cultists look great, and the statue as a back drop brings them all together - very CoC. Quote
Jabberwocky Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Fantastic use of the OSL on the statue. Best of luck in the contest! You have gotten off to a great start. Quote
Hinton Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Five minis in a week?? That's just nuts. Well done with the paint jobs and I really like how the scene is laid out. Quote
Peterdita Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Very cool. Good way to clear things out. Good luck! Quote
Scorpio Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Classy! Good luck keeping up with that schedule. Quote
Breten Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 I voted for those on Tuesday, great job. I love those Murch figures. Quote
Malebolgia Posted June 15, 2009 Author Report Posted June 15, 2009 And the sick pace of the Lead Painter's League continues! Right now round 8 is going. I can't show that round as the competition runs but I can show the other rounds that are over. Round 2 - Arkham Investigators (shown before in a separate topic) http://wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?t=6252 Round 3 - Arkham coppers & Timmy the intern (terrible photo ) Round 4 - Pain and Terror from the Skorne Empire (painted for a friend for his hardcore army) Round 5 & 6 - By the Power of Greyskorne (also painted for my friend; I recycled the entry for round 6 as I was quite tired by then) Round 7 - Creatures from the cold depths of Y'ha-nthlei (Wyrd's Silurid Slaves! I'm going to use them as Deep Ones for my Cosmic Horror game. The backdrop was not a wise choice as the green creatures get washed out against the backdrop) Round 8 is now also online. I'm probably going to recycle it for round 9 so I have two weeks for my final entry. You're getting bonus points if you'll enter 5+ adventurers, 5+ natives and one big creature. So 11 miniatures in two weeks! Better get painting tonight... Quote
Silmarilias Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 Wow five mini`s a week i think you have a lot of spare time on your hands , seriously though good work keep it up nice painting all round. Quote
DeafNala Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 All are VERY cool, well painted, & based. The Arkham ARE my personal favorites. VERY IMPRESSIVELY DONE! :fing02: Quote
Peterdita Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 Crazyness.... What a pace you keep. Well done with all those. Good look in round 8! Quote
Malebolgia Posted June 29, 2009 Author Report Posted June 29, 2009 Round 8 & 9 are done! I used one entry for both rounds as I needed the time for the grand finale (5 adventurers, 5 tribals and one monster with 6 appendages...). Here is the picture for round 8 & 9: The Sands of Time The mummies are ancient GW mummies I bought from Germy from Frothers. He tossed in the third for free and sculpted the missing foot! Great guy! The two adventurers are from Pulp Figures and the scenery is from Fenris Games. Round 10 (the last one!) is now up. Unfortunately the size limit is 800x800 pixels, so it was hard to fit in all the 11 miniatures (+6 appendages) and provide enough detail. I'll take some additional shots next week. Quote
supervike Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 I love this stuff! How is it you never advanced in Iron Painter with all those skillz!!! Quote
Malebolgia Posted July 6, 2009 Author Report Posted July 6, 2009 Lead Painter's League 3 - the photos Hey lads, So the LPL is finally done. I have made some additional detail shots of my entries and of course the big one, round 10, is included. Although the LPL was lots of fun, I'm glad it's over. Painting 43 miniatures in 10 weeks was a lot of work. Although the painting itself involves a lot less layers and blending than what I usually do, I'm very happy with the results. Enough talking, the photos! Round 1 - The Brotherhood of the Beast Elite Cultist 1 Elite Cultist 2 Elite Cultist 3 Elite Cultist 4 Elite Cultist 5 Round 2 - Arkham Investigators Investigator 1 Investigator 2 Investigator 3 Investigator 4 Investigator 5 Round 3 - Arckham 's Bluecoats...and Timmy the intern Timmy the intern Cop 2 Cop 3 Cop 4 Cop 5 Round 4 - Fear and Pain from the Skorne Empire These were painted for a friend's Skorne army. I have no other shots. Round 5 &6 - By the power of Greyskorne! I painted these for the Skorne army of a friend of mine. I don't have closeups. Round 7 - Creatures from the cold depths of Y'ha-nthlei Deep Ones 1,2 & 3 Deep Ones 4,5 & 6 Round 8 & 9 - The Sands of Time Adventurer 1 Adventurer 2 Mummies Round 10 - Back to the b...oh The Prof Adventurer Captain Sailor 1 Sailor2 Tribal Warrior 1 Tribal Warrior 2 Tribal Warrior 3 Tribal Warrior 4 Tribal Warrior 5 Sea Monster All in all productive and a lot of fun! DeafNala Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 I LOVE the Sea Monster; what an UBERCOOL not-so-mini mini. WELL DONE, Amigo! :fing02: Quote
Jabberwocky Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Fantastic work! Amazing considering the number of minis and the time frame you did them in. Looks like those boys in the last round are caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place... Quote
Peterdita Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Yeesh... you are a maniac! Very cool stuff. Lots of fun awaiting all those minis. Nice job! Quote
Wren Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Wow, what an impressive feat of painting! And it should make for a lot of fun playing. I think they all look great, and I really like how the presentation of the picture includes terrain and really brings things to live. Gotta join in the kudos for the sea monster, he is the cherry on the top! Quote
