Bren Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 I felt like painting yellow.. :-) Hope you like her! Quote
demonherald Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 gotta say I hate this sculpt.. however you've done a great job as always and thsetting is lovely .. what did you use for the vine?? looks like gypsophilia??? all in all a great looking piece as is expected. Quote
Hinton Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 Very lovely work. The yellow is very well done and the whole is scene is great. Quote
thetang22 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 You have done a fantastic job painting this one. I gotta agree about the sculpt - I don't like it. It is completely because of the gun too. This sculpt rides the fine line between awesome and totally ridiculous, and because of the completely awkward gun it ruins the sculpt for me. I think it would be great without it though. Back to the actual painting and setting however....superbly done. The painting is great, and the atmosphere of the piece is very appropriate as well. waghorn41 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 I love this sculpt, except for the gun. But you've done an amazing job and the setting is superb. It inspires me to get this mini. Quote
Math Mathonwy Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 I love the sculpt, even the gun I think it plays wonderfully with the dress. As for the painting - hot damn I was blown away. Her expression is absolutely perfect! And the yellow suits the mood of the piece wonderfully, not to mention the super-tight execution of the colour. Really, really liking the overall atmosphere here. Quote
Moavoamoatu Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Bren she is amazing. I really love this diorama and the paintjob is top notch as usual. Quote
DeafNala Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 COOL! It's Miss Scarlet with a MACHINE GUN! BEAUTIFULLY DONE! :AR15firin:rocketwho Quote

This sculpt rides the fine line between awesome and totally ridiculous, and because of the completely awkward gun it ruins the sculpt for me. I think it would be great without it though. Well, it is an Anima Tactics mini, which takes inspiration from anime/manga design. So a toothpick-skinny chick wielding a oversized weapon pretty much the standard with those influences. But as everyone else has said, beautiful work! When I gat a chance to buy minis again. This may have to be one I pick up. I think she's cool (even in a warm yellow). :bigok: Quote
r2-j1 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 I love the mustardy yellow tone you used. What paints did you use. I'd really like to try that style of yellow. Over all it is a beautiful piece that has a great vibrancy. Quote
Scorpio Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Now I want to write an ultra-violent Jane Austen minis game... Quote
Wren Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 lol, now THAT'S a game I'd get for sure. But I'm guessing I might be in a minority on that... Quote
Illustrange Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 she looks really good I tought I read she won on miniart con ? congratulations on that ! (and I SHOULD have been there to congratulate you in person >_< ) wasnt the yellow privateer press mercenary by you as well ? It is rarely used as a main color now that I think of it. Quote
elzaeer Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009  no comment !! *Some slaver flows of my chin. * Quote
Bren Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks all, and yes Melvin, you should have been there. I can't recall painting a yellow PP mini though... or do you mean the Master Holt with the stupid yellow coat : but that was another type of yellow... The colors I used for the dress: base - GW Bubonic Brown shades - GW Snakebite Leather, GW Bestial Brown and VGC Charred Brown highlighted to white and lots of glazes of all colors except the white. Bexley Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Now I want to write an ultra-violent Jane Austen minis game... You know, I could swear I made a joke here once about a Jane Austen RPG or minis game. Search can't seem to find it, though. Or maybe it was on another forum. Quote

v22TTC Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Couple of my Anima RPG characters go in that direction - swap Cordelia's gun for a rapier and main gauche. Lots of dancing, flirting and intrigue and ball gowns that don't interfere with their super-fast acrobatic fighting.... Couple of my Cadwallon characters too, now that I think of it.... Quote
Brushmistress Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Amazing job - like a few other people I didn't care for the sculpt, but if they had used your model as the marketing image, I would have! Truly gorgeous - great color choices too! Quote
