matty1001 Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 I thought I would ask on here as there seems to be a lot of gamers. And I assume most of them would have made one before. I need to make a flag but the flag pole is a paperclip so it has to be pretty thin to look in scale. Any ideas? Would tin foil work? Peace and love... Quote
TheBugKing Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Tin foil actually works rather well. I usually laminate three or four layers of tinfoil together with pva glue because the pva glue remains flexible after it dries allowing the flag to be posed easily. If the piece is for a diorama I would just go with 2 layers instead of three or four. Quote
moonrise Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 i dunno.... i used styrene for mine. sturdier iirc there's a tutorial in the brushthralls site how to make a flag using green stuff. worth checking out Quote
green stuff Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I used tin from a soda can for this one : http://www.coolminiornot.com/134737 You just have to be careful while cutting it as the edges are sharp. Quote
dargrin Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 One thing that I have be meaning to try is a tooth paste tube material. Quote
Moavoamoatu Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Tin foil from bottles of champagne works well too...and you can drink the bottle Quote
Ritual Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I prefer to drink what's INSIDE the bottle, but whatever floats your boat... Quote
Moavoamoatu Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I prefer to drink what's INSIDE the bottle, but whatever floats your boat... May be a litteral translation........ Quote

demonherald Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Also tomato puree tube works well .. 27p from netto use it in a bolognese or something an gve the tube a clean....voila. Quote
Ritual Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 May be a litteral translation........ Sorry... just having a veeeeery dull day at work. Quote
v22TTC Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I've experimented with cans for such things. I've found that Fosters cans are some weird plasticy metal that gives really blunt edges so you're very unlikely to cut yourself - useful for pieces that might get picked up by others. But, it reacts badly to spray primer (kind of goes a bit rough) so I'd use brush on primer for those bits. I can see Rob's suggestion about tomato puree tube being the winner though - cheers for that! Quote
matty1001 Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 Whoa! Loads of suggestions! I think using a tin can/tomato puree tube sounds the best. I tried laminating tinfoil and it didn't turn out so well. Rob, the figure is Hasslefrees Remy, it's amazingly small, and after drilling and carving the bottle out of his hand the only thing that fits in well is a paperclip. Peace and love... Quote
