Keltheos Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 (edited) So I'm sitting on a pile of Malifaux miniatures who need some painting and since one of my New Year's resolutions was to paint regularly I figured I'd start a (hopefully) regularly updated painting blog for my Mal minis... I'll also post some of the trials and tribulations we novice painters go through (heh, have an entire 40k ork force painted from about 15 years ago and now that I've committed to being a better painter I feel like I've had to relearn all my skills) First I'll start with the lists: Bare Metal/Primered 1 Belle The Hag 3 Silurids 3 Bayou Gremlins Ramos Joss Mature Nephilim 1 Steampunk Arachnid Swarm 3 Terror Tots Killjoy In Progress (some paint, any paint) Sonnia Samael 3 Witchlings Perdita Francisco Santiago Nino Papa Loco Lady Justice The Judge 3 Death Marshals Seamus Madame Sybelle 2 Belles Nicodem Mortimer 3 Punk Zombies Mc Mourning Sebastian 3 Flesh Constructs Lillith Convict Gunslinger Hans Completed (either paint job and/or paint + basing) Steambourg (painted by Brushmistress) Edited January 20, 2009 by Keltheos Quote
Keltheos Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 First up, Brushmistress' Steambourg, can't say enough wonderful things about how he looks. I'll have to get my lights set back up, these are a couple quick photos just to get the ball rolling: Also, a really bad shot of one of the Punk Zombies. I'm messing with some dead flesh tones for the belles and zombies at the same time, he looks about the closest I wanted them to be: The warm lighting in our dining room blows for taking true color pix and my flash washes everything out. Will get better shots... Quote

DeafNala Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 COOF STUFF! It WILL be fun following your progress. Keep posting & I'm sure you'll get LOTS of WELL DESERVED encouragement. :fing02: Quote
Jabberwocky Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 *Applauds* I need to make one of these threads... I'll be following this one along for sure! Quote
Hinton Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Looking pretty good so far. Definitely keep us updated as you go. Quote
St. Anger Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Dan, Great job so far!!! Do we have to make a challenge again like last year??? I have a similar pile waiting for me, and I still have to order the Steamborg Executioner and the Beast Mistress. Will the madness ever end? Quote
Keltheos Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 Heh, probably not, I can't seem to stop buying long enough to paint what I have. Anger, you'll win any challenge we have! I hope to be consistent in my painting, but something shiny always seems to distract me from getting things done. Quote
St. Anger Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Dan, I only suggest this, as a way to motivate each other. I have the same issue that my pile of unpainted pile continues to grow exponentially, as well. I need some motivation to restart the painting engine. I will probably try to list my current stuff, as well, to motivate me to get off my ass! Quote
Keltheos Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 My hardest thing is consistency with time and not getting distracted by shiny objects...Having 45 models in some state of 'in progress' doesn't lend well to getting a project done. But some mutual encouragement would be great! Quote
St. Anger Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Agreed... I will try to post my list this week... Quote
Isoulle Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Very impressive. You're a very good painter. I really like the blending job especially along the blades... Quote
Keltheos Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 On Steambourg? That's all Brushmistress. He's my only completed Mal miniature and was painted by someone much more talented than myself. Quote
Nathan Caroland Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 HRmmm, we might have to offer some incentive for you folks, let me mull it over. Quote
v22TTC Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 'Malifaux Warband' as a theme in IP6? Quote
Nathan Caroland Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 They would kill me, even I am not that stupid. Quote
v22TTC Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Yeah but it'd be random, so cool!:vb_devil::laugh: Quote
TheBugKing Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 And some of us would have a head start! (Oh wait... That's cheating. <damn!>) Quote
Isoulle Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 On Steambourg? That's all Brushmistress. He's my only completed Mal miniature and was painted by someone much more talented than myself. Oh well.... this is awkward >_> Hey! Look over there! *Flees* Quote
TheBugKing Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 HRmmm, we might have to offer some incentive for you folks, let me mull it over. If you do FF, that would be totally over the top. It has been a fun project so far though! @Kel Where is an update??? I feel starved for material to ridicule you over! (No not really but it fits with the usual abuse we all heap on you! When in Rome and all.) Quote

My *current* plan is to only buy more Malifaux stuff after I've painted what I already have. And complete a warband before moving on to another (not counting Mercs.) (No not really but it fits with the usual abuse we all heap on you! When in Rome and all.) You want Malifaux rules or pretty painted model pictures? My house has been Flu Central for about 3 weeks now. When it hasn't been me it's been my wife (i.e. I'm on parent duty) and then my daughter (i.e. we're both on parent duty) and now me again...just haven't had the time or energy to get out and paint more. Want to, just haven't had time to. Quote
