tidoco2222 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Hi all Here is my latest mini, it is one of the new Ork Kommandos and IMO these minis are probably the best Ork minis to come out of GW for some time. I intend to do the whole set of five but my pace is slow these days so don't expect any more any time soon lol. I kept the base simple as this and the others are going to be auctioned off for charity on for a Children In Need project taking place on my forums. The base is precast resin from Back2basix an Australian company that trades on e-bay and I think they are awesome. It is also an entry for a painting contest, I have asked the host if it is ok to post the finished pics before the closing date and he has said it is ok. I hope you loike him as much as I do. Quote
gi6ers Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Excellent as usual! I'd agree that these are great minis!. I'll be needing your skin recipe and I'd also like to know how you did the rusty metals on the boots please? Quote
matty1001 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Tim's head will explode if he's types his skin recipe out again LOL Fantastic Tim, as usual. Its all up to a consistant high standard. Quote
tidoco2222 Posted August 7, 2007 Author Report Posted August 7, 2007 Well seeing as it is the first time I have typed it out on Wyrd here goes. Basecoat Catachan Green To shade mix a little black into the base coat and then add as a wash. Reset the base colour leavinng some of the shade showing. Then highlight gradually by mixing increasing amounts of Camo Green into the base colour until you are using pure Camo Green. The next step is not essential but if you have to hand a pot of the old Citadel Colour Green Ink, not the one that is currently available take a small amount and dilute quite heavily and add this as a glaze a couple of times obviously letting each application dry thoroughly. Final highlight Camo Green with a touch of Bleached Bone in on the highest parts. that is all there is to it. As for the boots, base coat Dark Flesh, stipple on first Vermin Brown, Then Fiery Orange and then Blazing Orange. Very lightly dry brush Boltgun Metal to finish. I hope that helps. Quote
Hinton Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Excellent work, Tim. Everything on it looks absolutely amazing. Quote
gi6ers Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 I hope that helps. Yup! Spot on, I did a Spyglass Ork with the same recipe. I use Tamiya clear green for Ork/Goblin glazes if that helps anyone...thanks Tim! Quote
supervike Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Oh, that skin is fantastic! Super job Tim! Quote
stefanhws Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Great painting. I like the CoC an the Metalics. Only thing is that the head is a bit to dark compared to the rest of the mini. A brighter bown for the mask would put the focus more to the middle of the mini. Quote
