Duende
Here's my four entries I did for the Femme Fatale: I'd write a bit more about them, but I'm at work right now. I'll edit this later with descriptions. Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment on them! -Michelle "Duende"
vincegamer
I liked your duel concept a whole lot.
Duende
Well, I have some extra time now so here's a little about each: Misaki and the Jade Dragon DD#7 (this was my original title when I uploaded it, but it got replaced with "Deadly Duel entry 07" My idea behind this was that Misaki came across an outcropping of raw jade in an otherwise barren field. Thinking she's just struck it rich, she turns to find an angry Jade Dragon who's not to happy having his territory encroached upon. So now who will claim the jade in the end? The Misaki mini came straight from Wyrd, while I've had the Reaper Oriental Dragon for some time now, gotten from my LGS. It was after I started painting him that I decided to remove the long integrated base of the dragon, so I did it very carefully using my dremel. The most frustrating part was I didn't have a decent cutting blade at first and it was taking forever, but I was able to finally find a blade that cut through pewter like butter. I think I hid the accidental gouges on his claws and legs pretty well. Masquerade Amazon SS#3 (originially titled "Losing the Trail") Gotten from FozzBozz in January after their Store-Closing sale was anounced. I wanted to get some minis from some lines that I didn't have any or very many of, so what better time than when they're on sale? I was really pleased with how her hair came out. Her tattoos were added last since I thought she needed something "more', but afterwards, I was sorry I did because my freehand is really uneven and horrible. The base she's on is actually a yellow plastic helium balloon weight (taken off of one of my daughter's balloons after it "died"). The two slots you can see are where the string threads through it to tie it on. The water is ust Woodland Scenics Water Effects with a bit of white paint to make it look more frothy. The rock (which is a real rock, just painted) has a bloody handprint on it, but it's sort of hard to see. Assassin Dryad SS#9 Also gotten from FozzBozz's sale. I painted her during the time I was also working my my Duel entry. She a prime example of what happens when you rush through a paintjob, eg. the green area on her. I didn't even realize that I smeared white paint on her thigh until after the pictures were taken. Don't ask how I did her hair, I think I slept through that part. I'm still trying to figure why a plant would have boobs, too. D&D Chainmail's Wood Elf Ranger Fantasy#26 She was gotten from Fayarin waaay back in CMON's Mini Exchange #7. I had started painting her shortly after getting her with the intention of finishing her before the next Exchange, but due to some negative stuff going on in my life at the time, she got put aside and sat with my other WIP's until I picked her up again to finish for this contest. I had her all painted up without the blood, but thought she needed something extra. It occured to me to show the motion of the axes with flying blood, but how to achieve that effect? It would have to be something very thin and curving, but be able to hold it's shape and paint. So sitting there, I also noticed my hair (which I have plenty of, it's kinda long) and said "Eureka!" and grabbed my scissors, the glue, and red paint. So, the flying gore strands are actually my own hair covered in unthinned paint (I made it kinda "gloppy" to make the droplets in it). A friend called it "neat but kinda creepy" Hahaha! So, that's all in a nutshell (ok, a big nutshell). Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment. I hope you liked them! Please tell me what you think! Ritual
Good stuff, Michelle! My favourite of these is your duel! But, I liked all of them.
matty1001
The blood swipes on the Elf add alot of movement, they look mint! The base of the duel piece is great, though it took me a while to realise that she was standing on the Jade rock lol (im a bit slow on the uptake!) orkydave
Liked every one of these, your duel got a vote from me and the fantasy piece just missed out on one! Loveley work I liked the whole concept behind your duel
vincegamer
Ah. That explains why the rock she's on is green but none of the rest is.
Duende
@ vince - Yes!! I tried to get that across in the comment section. but a lot of people either didn't get it or just plain didn't read it.
Stupidcow
Duende you have to do a tutorial on that "Matrix" blood. Its fantastic!
Thryth
I commented on all of these in the gallery, but I liked them so much, I might as well keep commenting. All really well done entries. So many too. I only entered two, and one of them I stated for last year's FF. Misaki and the Jade Dragon The title of my SF entry was lost too. I liked the idea behind this, and got what was going on (I did read the description before looking at the diorama though. Masquerade Amazon Another good idea. The miniature was not very dynamic, and you made a setting for it which allowed her stance to make sense and look good. Assassin Dryad May be rushed, but still better than what I feel I can do. I really like the hair. My only question is, is she supposed to have tan lines? D&D Chainmail's Wood Elf Ranger Bold idea with the blood. I am usually not a fan, but think that it was well done and adds to the miniature. The paint is keeping that in place?
supervike
I could've swore I moderated this pics yesterday, but I can't find them on CMoN now...
Duende
I could've swore I moderated this pics yesterday, but I can't find them on CMoN now... Well, they're back now.... yeah, I said back. As is typical, I posted them there with a warm fuzzy feeling gotten from all the nice comments I got here.... then the next day, the CMON scores were like a cold glass of water in the face. So I reacted by yanking them all out of my gallery. But since I'm a bit more level-headed today, and just having a better day in general, I figured yanking them was kinda over-reactionary so I listed them again and they're all active again now. I just don't think I'll be checking their scores for the next year or two... :embarasse
supervike
Yeah, I noticed them as I was Approving pics. Scoring is harsh there, but as a friend of mine recently put it....its like hanging some of your own artwork in the Louvre.....
