Maestro Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 Hello! Right after receiving my order this monday, after the troublesome moving of Hasslefree, I immediately started painting up this little one. I really like the sculpt, which is not that hard to paint, but very interesting to do! Lovely little thing! So without further ado, I present you with my version of Alyx: C&C welcome ofcourse! supervike Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 Love your painting style and your paint... But...having the base cut like that is distracting....Very different and kudos for that, but it may 'work' better (IMHO) if you left the ring of the base intact, and filled the pipe area with resin/water effect. But still, the rest of the base is phenomenal...as is the painting. Quote
Maestro Posted March 2, 2007 Author Report Posted March 2, 2007 Thanks Vike! The base is a plain Groundforge resin base (nothing altered by me, just painted), and if I hade a nice plinth to put her on, I would definately do some goo-stuff to come out of the pipes. Does anyone know a good place to get plinths? I know Valloa's Vale has them and will definately look into them soon.. John Quote
Wren Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 I'm with sv on the base, the pie piece is distracting. The painting on the base is great, lots of fun textures and grunge. Super job on the figure painting, also - skin, hair, details, all great. Not sure I like the very bright blue shoes, though, seems a little too bright and vivid against the other colours on the piece. Great stuff! Quote
Ritual Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 Maestro... One of the newest members here, Tyron, makes lovely PVC display plinths that he sells on eBay quite regularely. They are really excellent!! The dense PVC material gives the miniature a sturdy base with a low centre of mass so you won't knock it over. Try contacting him and see if he has something for sale! Lovely piece, BTW! Quote
Duende Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 Very nice. I kinda like her bright shoes, they contrast well against the dark and dirty scheme of the base. Ah, nothing says "youthful innocence' like a little girl with her teddy and her gun. Quote
matty1001 Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Tyron plinths are fantastic. I can vouch for them. You have done a great job, though i reckon the boots are a bit to bright. Quote
Tyron Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Thank you to all for your kind words, i'm so happy you like them... I produce these professional PVC bases from years, and now i'm very happy happy because i'm always full of commissions from best painters in this galaxy! :music: Infact i don't use more to do auctions on ebay, I'm full of commission and this is thanks to amazing painters as ritual, franciuus, manumilitari, banshee, poupeè canope and many others that use these bases in their masterpieces! They're quite simple, even is they require a lot of hard-work for me! Thanks and thanks again! Massimiliano. Quote
