Warpig
So I am thinking possibly setting up a tournament later this year. Are there any formats or systems in place I can look to see how to run them? Like an average point build, scoring systems?
Adran
I am assuming you have read the gaining grounds document (Malifaux — Wyrd Games (wyrd-games.net)) This gives the basics to run an event. You're welcome to change it as you see fit to what you want as the organiser, but I would say the standard event is 50 ss games, 3 points for a win 1 for a draw, and a swiss system to generate pairings (This is where you face people with the same record as you at the event, so if you have 1 win and 1 loss after 2 rounds, you ought to play someone else with 1 win and 1 loss). Number of rounds is more commonly decide by the length of time you have the venue for, but 3 or 4 rounds is doable in a day. (4 does require tight timing, but can be done in 9 hours). There are also several programs set up to help organise events. In the UK we often use Bag O' Tools (bag-o-tools.com) to book in players and organise pairing and table numbers and sort out the event scoring. There are other packages out there, and if you only have a small event its almost easier to do it manually. Good luck. It can be a lot of fun.
