Why all the Carver Hate?

Carver is a decent 8 point model, not great for 8 but decent. Unfortunately that thing costs 10 points.

In comparison to other in- and out of faction 10 point models Carver lacks

  • Threat range
  • Third AP
  • Survivability

At first I thought it's designed to be a pretty efficient beater (Stat 7, built in suite, leeches Focus), doesn't require much cards to do something with these values.

But lacking in threat and survivability makes that thing really inefficient.

Forcing opponents to focus because of having hard to wound or serene countenance or something similar would be interesting to make his Misery really miserable :), of course you can remove other aspects to pay for that strong of an ability.

 

So why all the Carver hate? Because it's justified ... maybe?

Okay, so i've been mulling over Carver OOK in a Zoraida crew. Zoraida's ability to walk models into his engagement range, allowing Carver to take Draw Essence twice as well as giving him fast via the Hex trigger means if the bubble is right, Carver should be able to ping a lot of models up to 5 times in one turn for spending, at worst, a single 7 of masks (more if you want to obey people into the bubble. After having a hand drained by trying to stop some draw essence Carver makes more use out of terrifying. 

As with all things, this is nest case scenario and planets aligning, but the theory is sound. It does however make Carver an 11ss model when so far no-one has justified 10SS. lol.

Will run it and see how it does.

So you'd be spending master AP to walk people up to Carver, and then more to put out a few (kinda) weak shockwaves that, if they fail, just damage carver
