World Series rankings will are hosted at https://vassal.malifaux-rankings.com/#/. Huge thanks to Malifaux-Rankings for hosting us! We have added a code of conduct for the series this year. With the participation we received last year, we wanted to make sure we are being as transparent as possible about what our sportsmanship expectations are and how be intend to enforce any breaches in conduct. Find the MWS Code of Conduct here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XTuvQF5JHyrOKj-43jkvrPzEIEgEP9YlCNq0_yh4PyQ/edit?usp=sharing As usual, we have tried to keep an up-to-date FAQ so players can resolve as many rules disputes as possible at the table. Our Rulings and FAQ has been updated with most outstanding Malifaux Burns questions. As always, anything we feel is clearly supported by the core rules or Wyrd's official FAQ isn't included in our document. DuBlanck
Presumably this has been hashed out on Discord, but is there any guidance on what constitutes slow play? Particularly in reference to a player "taking up more than their fair share" of time? Edit to minimise thread clogging: @Maniacal_cackleI get that slow play can be controlled with polite social contract stuff, it was more what slow play actually is. How does the fair share thing align with e.g. Nekima elite-alpha V Nexus jam-swarm? Does this rule out those crews that have "stall the game" as a semi-win condition? Particularly in reference to a player "taking up more than their fair share" of time? It's very subjective where you know it when you see it, but basically there's two aspects to it: Players should self-monitor. If we're honest with ourselves, we can usually catch ourselves when we're being slow. Something to watch out for - if you are having games that aren't finishing within the time limit, you probably aren't playing fast enough. You can ask your opponent to speed up if you think they're playing too slow. In the event that self-monitoring isn't good enough, the TOs (like Alcathous and myself) can step in (especially when requested). There's usually a fair bit more latitude for newer players, but generally you should be working towards completing the vast majority of your games in the (generous) time limit.

The most 'fair' way to define how much time you are entitled to is half the time. It can get quite fiddly determinining exactly who is responsible for a given unit of time, but if you find yourself frequently having to define slow play, you probably need to speed up your game. It is unfortunately hard to define, unless we go with a strict system like chess clocks which seems a step too far. But the guiding principle is only half the time is yours. If you want to play a horde crew with 15 activations, you should be able to play against another crew of the same size and still finish the game. 1 1
