Steamroller vs Ice Pillars

Maciej

Question

Hi All.

Lucky Emisary Steamroller action says that model is pushes 12". If push is interrupted by destructible terrain, that terrain is removed and the push continues. If Push is interrupted by Impassable Terrain, this model suffers 2 damage.

Am I correct to assume, in cases of ice pillars that are both destructible and Impassable, Emisary making steamroller action would destroy an ice pillar, suffer damage and continue his push?

No.  Practically speaking, between the 'interrupted' FAQ

27. *What does it mean for a Push to be Interrupted?*

a) A Push is interrupted if it stops short of its full distance moved for any reason. For Pushes that are “up to” a specific distance, that distance must be chosen before the model is moved and it is treated as Interrupted if it stops short of that distance chosen.

and the two sentences of the effect

If this Push is interrupted by Destructible Terrain, that terrain is removed and the Push continues.  If this Push is interrupted by Impassable Terrain, this model suffers 2 damage.

The fact that the push continues means that the interruption gets cancelled if the terrain is destructible.

The first would probably have been slightly clearer if it was worded "If this Push would be interrupted by Destructible Terrain, that terrain is removed and the Push continues", but that's really what it has to mean.

I'm not wholly convinced, here. You resolve an Action left to right, so if the Lucky Emissary's push is interrupted by an Ice Pillar (assuming it has chosen a distance greater than the distance to the pillar), you would first resolve the "interrupted by destructible" element, at the end of which, the pillar is removed and there's a case to be made that there is no object to reference as "interrupting impassable terrain."

The Action itself tells you to override the general (FAQ) description of "interrupted" by continuing the push.
