Caedrus
Greetings, fellow painters, and welcome to the Monthly Painting Challenge for November! Everything you need to know for the Challenge is right HERE. October was a quiet month for me, but I am back on deck and ready to get some painting done! In fact, let's get some painting done in a rush. Are you ready for... The Speed Painting Challenge! In the month of November, I challenge you to Speed paint. That is, to paint a miniature from primed to completed in 116 minutes, which is the run time for the movie Speed. I've tried this before. It's ... a real challenge. Have a fantastic November, look after yourself and your loved ones, and keep those brushes damp! Caedrus.
Caedrus
This month, I will be painting some Amalgam. I've ordered some old-school metal abominations off eBay, and I will post pictures soon! In the meantime, I have some rough bases, the four M2E abominations, and the waifs! Caedrus. Viruk
Now that is a big challenge you've put there... Not sure I'll get it but anyway, this is the start for November
Magnus
I love the challenge, not sure yet what I'll choose but... it's on like Donkey Kong. I do plan on finishing two more pieces for my King's Empire and with that I will meet my goal of having a fully painted army by the end of 2021. That's a full two leader army and pretty much all I have minus one unit I don't really like that much. I know the majority here play/paint Malifaux but if you haven't tried the Other Side it really is a great game. I'm really hoping that the new two player starter set and all the cross game miniatures creates some additional buzz for the game.
Stranglelove
For November, I'll try to speed paint something in this: That will pretty much finish my Malifaux collection until the rest of the Seeker keyword and Other Side starter set arrive. Not as much as @Viruk but my shelves are getting full!
Boomstick
I'll ge finishing up my Witch Hunters this month, then probably be jumping back to Explorers versatiles.
Engorn
This is my pledge for November. The entire DUA/Umbra crew. I am not sure if I am going to be able of painting it all, but I am going to try it hard.
Gheist
Haha, i think i seldom paint more than 116 minutes on a model anymore .... sadly I Pledge the 8 Missing Apex models and if i have time i do random versatiles all over my 4 factions. But i rather think the 8 apex models will be it
Diddick
Damn! November challenge is here already! i ll keep working on my urami crew, and paint 2 drowned. I’ll try to do the speed challenge with the 2nd i paint, once i see what works with the 1st one… is that cheating? 😬

muraki
I've effectively already finished my painting for the month, but like with last month's I can't post it, because I'm in Xmas gift season (sigh) and since everyone I'm doing gifts for is on the forum, I can't post until after I give em to people. So last month i finshed 21, and so far this month I've done... 91 so far?
Stranglelove
I managed to finish the Witches and Woes set: Neat sculpts. I have the Zoraida box assembled and ready for priming. Productive month!
Ja9nge
@Caedrus Finished a metal golem (10 SS) in addition to the 16 SS that I by accident (thank you for making me aware @Diddick) posted in the October tread (26 SS total for November).
Stranglelove
Finished Zoraida's crew before month's end: Happy Turkey Day, all! I'll tabulate points later.
Cats Laughing
Been a slow month and I have doubts about finishing anything else this month, I figure I'll post now and post again if I are anything to add. So far I've only finished a Terracotta Warrior (very simple scheme) and Wanyudo (who was actually quite fun to paint after dreading him for a long time) That's 11ss this month.
Viruk
62 soulstones with the addition of Lamplighters and Moorwraiths and I still need to finish that Nekima I started in a stream two weeks ago... As a bonus, here's a link to a short vid with all my recent works from the ES faction https://www.instagram.com/reel/CWv7tP2jXSe/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet
Diddick
Hi there! i tried (and failed) the speedpainting challenge, my fault for bitting more than i can chew, i tried to finish both minis in the given time, once the colors are in the pallette, 2 minis with the same color scheme don t take twice as much time, and gives the paint time to dry. What slowed me down the most was highlighting the skin too much, and then trying to recover mid tones, but had to highlight again, but went too far… and so on here’s the wip of what i achieved they are just missing rust effects on the metal, the bases, and touch up the faces and will be done 👌
Diddick
So yesterday managed to finish the 2 drowned for a total of 12 SS did the bases and the rust effects, and after I took the pics i realised i forgot to fix the skin mid-tones on the faces... but honestly, i'm afraid i'd mess up again and end up destroying all the detail on the sculpt with more layers, so that's it.
Gheist
This Month went as expected. Rest of Apex and two Versatiles for 68SS @Caedrus Every Model meets the Speed Challenge, as sadly i seldom take longer to paint a miniature this year. I vow to put some more effort in one of the next Crews Also tried to watch the Film Speed while Painting but couldn't take it. GJ Everyone Really like this thread a lot
Magnus
So many beautiful miniatures this month. I had a slow month for all things Wyrd but a very productive month painting some of my other passions. I did make my pledge @CaedrusI did 23ss for the month (Eva for 7ss and the two Geryons for 16ss). I didn't really try the challenge but it was a good one. I'm a slow painter over all. Here are some pics:
Boomstick
Lots of good looking, colorful models everyone! @Caedrus I wasn't timing myself, and did a lot of assembly line painting, so no clue if I hit the official Speed painting timing, but for the number of models done this month I feel pretty good about it (though it was a good reminder why I'm glad to not paint 40k armies any more). Finished up a Witchling Handler, 4 Stalkers (1 translucent), 2 Thralls, the Brutal Effigy, and my Pale Rider (via a repurposed Rollins) for a total of 58ss this month
Shock & Awe
Hey everyone, I'm just coming back to the hobby (again...) after a few years off. I used to post in these challenges pretty regularly back in the day and am hoping you don't mind if I squat for the next two months to help get me ramped up for the start of next year! @Caedrus - I'll pledge minion for the next two months, just to keep with the rules and all. Glad to be back and to see people still banging out beautiful work in here. That said, I got through five models this month: Alt Lazarus (who I renamed Shockwave )9ss, The Forgotten Marshal 7SS, and three Bayou Gators 5ss each - total of 31ss for November. I'll make sure to post the unpainted prep pictures in December!
Caedrus
Caedrus, reporting in! I haven't yet taken the nice photos of my completed pledge for the month, so here is my day-before-final-panic-painting-session efforts. The old-school metal abomination was my Speed-Painting Challenge efforts. It's ... ok. @Viruk: The cloak on your spelleaters is my favourite aspect of your painting this month, I reckon. The texture is delightful (stippled?), and the temperature change is very nice as well. Mind you, I also think the lamplighter / moorwraith greens are a delight as well. On the topic of greens... @Stranglelove: I really like this set. The Alt-Pandora is a great paint on a lovely sculpt. What I really love is how you have contrasted the really desaturated tones with the ultra-bright, ultra-saturated tones on the greens. Gorgeous. I'm very envious of the job you did on the waldgeist. @Ja9nge: I painted my golem very similarly - yours looks super-imposing. I love the brass faceplate. @Cats Laughing: I absolutely dreaded painting the Wanyudo. It's a very odd figure. I like yours. If you felt super-brave, you could paint the fie-tips in a scarlet-to-black, to really emphasise the heat. @Diddick: I always admire a painter that can do desaturated painting, yet still retain interest in the figure. That's exactly what you have with the drowned. They look like they are in the depths, where little light reaches. Kudos! @Gheist: I love that whole crew, but my favourite has to be the Botanist with the Audrey II vibe. Love it. @Magnus: Those guys look super-washed-out and pale. If the effect you were going for was 'bleak and cold', you nailed it. @Boomstick: Who doesn't love Ghost Rider reference? I adore the theming on the (cracked lava) bases, and the use of the steel-grey / yellow combination. Striking and memorable. @Shock & Awe: Great to see you again! I love the Shockwave-Purple, but me favourite bit of your painting is the wave-highlighting on the middle gator. Very nice! Finally, I thought I would show you the two efforts I submitted in the 2021 Rotten Harvest Painting Competition, which I will add to the October total: My Grootslang, and a properly hideous Yin (the base of which was intended to have a pair of buttocks sculpted on, but due to a gross misjudgement of base area availability, ended up looking like a second sculpted torso): They didn't win anything, but I hope you like them! Whoo! Better quality pictures to come of my November Amalgam minis, but in the meantime, keep putting pigment to plastic! Caedrus. 7
