@Maniacal_cackle- Rescheduled to Sunday afternoon :). We'll see, we revealed crews.

Schtook - Whisper
Assistant
Anna Lovelace
Valley
Student of Viscera
2x Necropunks with GST

Vs

Nexus
2x Nests
Archivist
Meredith
Ngaatoro
Spelleater
Interpid Effigy
Nightsilk Creeper

Pretty standard list, haven't seen many people running creeper lately but we'll see. It's likely gonna be his mobile Symbols model.

Yeah, pretty expected Cadmus list, although that Creeper is a bit funky. I personally rate the teleport quite highly in Neverborn, but I usually have two models with it so I'm not sure.

Yours looks pretty fab for scoring points! Do you always take GST on necropunks, or did it here as all the low willpower models are particularly bad at hitting it?

Also how do you find Necropunks against Cadmus? On the one hand all the ping damage will eat them alive, but on the other hand maybe you can just dodge the enemy?

We'll see about the Creeper, its a good model if it can survive or if the markers can be in good spots for the teleports. Thankfully, low WP means Schtook will gets shots off on it and Anna can also to hopefully put it in the ground.

GST on necropunks is typically standard for me. It makes them 7 points but they are the best scheme runners in the game: Terrifying 11, armor 1, HtW, Regen 2 all makes them extremely difficult to put down while they are leaping around to score points. The low WP models is a bonus but I don't expect them to be taking shots from anyone other than Archivist. Maybe models defending points but the more models he has defending markers, the less are part of the bubble.

Necropunks in general are the best scheme runner ressers have (I know you love your Crooligans) because they are hard to take down and are extremely mobile.

OH, his spell eater has Flush wish Cash because that is super relevant. Free 4 cards in an important turn is nice.

xD I don't think too many people would debate that (other than me). Certainly in terms of the traditional scheme runner (low-cost, independent model that can run off and score a bunch), Necropunk is arguably the best in the game.

For me, I don't even quite rank Crooligans as the best. I reckon Archie, Seamus, and Reva are the best in our faction, but I know that's a skewed view xD

I also always underestimate terrifying because initially I had Ruthless Archie so just am used to the idea that terrifying models splatter easily. I still haven't quite adjusted to how difficult it is to get through like terrifying 11 with WP4 xD

Yeah, if nothing else, terrifying just adds another layer of annoyance when you're making targeting decisions. Do I bother punching the necropunk? I need a 6 to even try to hit them... maybe i'll target something else. Or if they do swing, its a nice bit of random protection they have. I've had 2 necropunks hold up 2 mature nephilims for multiple turns this way!

Alot of my gameplay is about throwing extra hurdles and making my opponent's decision making harder which then opens them up to making more mistakes. Adding terrifying to a annoying scheme runner is right up my alley!

Yeah, I think this is critical (and also suits Molly's gameplay really well).

Sure you can come kill me, but it will take you an extra walk action. Or you can score that point, but it'll take 3 extra actions. Etc.

For some reason on defensive stuff, I just prioritise reliability over the extra hurdle. Probably a mindset I need to break by experimenting more.

It also doesn't hurt that even if they DO hit the necropunks or shieldbearers, they will likely survive and then regenerate. For a shieldbearer in particular, they can heal back up to 5 in a single activation xD

I've tried GST on crooligans but didn't like it, except on Corrupted Idols, or specialised shenanigans (like removing the marker on Recover Evidence).

This is the exact list Plaag played against me when we practice that tournament round (he destroyed me with Bayou Z).

Creeper give the nexus player a good way to go for the symbol early game while he's positioning his bubble.

It's a solid all around list for the round for sure. Gives alot of early game options :)

Makes sense about the Creeper! I find the spiders insanely good in neverborn, and Cadmus is better at throwing out more webs (although maybe not the same distance).

For Round 2, I just played a practice game with Seamus, and he is just so devastatingly powerful on that scenario. Very, very good at denying. BUT it only works on turns you can secure activation control which makes it really tricky/intense to play xD

Lol I try to adjust for ss value. Point for point I think Necropunks and piglets are the top of the heap.

I can imagine. Even Min 3 beaters need to make contact 3 times to kill one. Terrifying makes that harder and Regen undoes the work. Not to mention Leap letting them bug out whenever they want.

Yeah, it was pretty amusing. This was GG0 and he was trying to score Outflank with the matures but the necropunks just tanked them. He had to bring Nekima over to actually deal with these scheme runners :)

I'm bringing double masters, Molly & Kirai.

(For the others, the joke is Davos and I have identical scores so may play each other. So for once, no spoilers ;p).

Noooo gimme spoilers!!!!!  :P

Ya, the math got wonky.  Current standings have me against outcasts...Outcasts probably plays Viks for Leylines?   (As an outcast player, I never liked my options for it)

I think Viks make a lot of sense, yeah.

I assume you're playing Kirai with Rider to carry?

I think I'll be taking Rider as a backup for the lodestone.

That's what we like to hear! Leylines is such a good one for cheeky lists. I've come up with several variants of "your model gets pushed off the leylines."

So watch me get paired against someone with each access to tech that stops that xD

Dude for realz.  Brightside: Outcast has literally no Laugh Off/roots lol. Torments IS very good about small pushes....

@Maniacal_cackle 5-3 schtook into Nexus :)

It was a close one and I started panicking when he RJ the Necropunk that I was going to use to score Sabotage and 2 of the idols, ended up getting one of those idols and only 1 from sabotage because undergrads to too good with their teleport.

Anna's hostile workplace aura was MVP. Preventing Cadmus from using Will of Cadmus on his models to score points and preventing a doctor's orders.

He made a pretty big mistake T4 by summoning 3 Eyes and Ears. He gave me 3 pass tokens and put them all in the middle of the board. The intent was to deny my scheme markers for the 2nd point of LYM but he just gave Von Schtook easy targets. He killed all three of them, dropped the markers anyway and drew 3 cards while reaping 3 pass tokens to guarantee denial for T5.

Oddly, my necropunks only scored a single point that game. The one dying on T2 was highly detrimental to my plans. The only good thing the other one did was threaten a 2nd symbol which forced his Toro to move out of position and spend the last 2-3 turns defending the idol.

Overall: I'm happy with the results. Made a few minor mistakes but the overall idea and planning worked out which I think is the key to beating nexus. I only got a single parasite token by choice (Vale had only 1 wound left and I didn't want to throw away my leap card or my 13) and focused the eyes and ears down.
