Hello,
I hit an enemy with Bad Juju, I trigger Quicksand.
Does the trigger work if I kill the initial target?

No, because the target is not longer on the table. This trigger resolves after dagame.

I would have thought yes - other models within 2 still need to take a MV dual... (I'm very inexperienced at Malifaux, so @beloreyis much more likely to be right)

Here you can read: Pag 12 Triggers Timming: Quicksand is an after succeeding trigger so the target must be on table to happen.

The trigger targets multiple models - is it not ok that at least one of them is still in play?

It doesn't. The trigger uses target of the attack, and then pulses to affect models within 2". The models in the pulse are not targeted.

Thematically not a fan, but I understand the wording now.

Another important point is that you don’t try to figure out that “within 2 of the target” until you resolve the trigger.

As a case in point, the Adza has the same Quicksand trigger on its Lure attack.  It makes a big difference in who gets pulsed.

I agree with you!
Although the concept of pulsing quicksand is pretty nonsensical to start with, it's more of a sand blast surely!
