'Reducing' irreducible damage - some questions about obeys against Cadmus.

Question

Okay, I've been theorycrafting some things against Cadmus, and ran into some rules questions.

If you obey Archivist to use Siphon Power, can you pass that damage on via "We Are Legion" - resulting in two damage being done total?

We are Legion allows you to choose another model to suffer damage. If you do, then it reduces the damage that Archivist suffers.

If you're obeying Archivist (and making his decisions), can you have him siphon power to do an irreducible damage to himself, then pass that damage on with We Are Legion:

  • So Archivist tries to pass on the damage (another model takes one damage)
  • Archivist then gets to reduce his damage taken by one.
  • Since it is irreducible damage, it doesn't have any effect.
  • So Archivist takes one irreducible damage and someone else takes one damage, all from one Siphon Power?

If you do pass the damage on via We Are Legion, they can just give it back, right?

If you do pass the damage on with Archivist, they can just throw the damage back on Archivist with We Are Legion? And then Archivist can throw it to someone else if there's a valid target?

Just thinking that obey (and especially ensorcel) could be pretty brutal on Archivist.

Just want to add that if you are obeying an enemy Archivist, you have to Siphon power the Archivist, and you get no say in where that point of damage goes after your first "move" (unless they put it back onto the Archivist I suppose). (Its also not irreducible damage from we are legion, only the initial damage from Siphon power is irreducible. Its still 2 extra damage in total no matter how many people it is passed through)

Question is though, as the original damage is irreducible, and the passing on to another We Are Legion is to reduce it from the original model, can they pass it? It states irreducible damage, and the wording says that passing it removes it from the original model that received it, which would render it not-irreducible. Trying to clear this up, as through placing a parasite on an enemy model in range, you can reduce the damage by handing it off to the parasited model, again rendering it not-irreducible. Happy to have this cleared up!

We Are Legion doesn't require a model to reduce damage to pass it off, it requires a model to pass damage in order to reduce it. With irreducible that means you choose a model to suffer damage, then the original model tries to reduce the damage but can't, so now both models are suffering damage.
