Unless there's a joke I'm not quite getting here, it's mostly a way to have Ivan shunt bad conditions to a model that doesn't matter as much, or have a totem with nothing else useful to do power up Ivan. His Action - Shade Step can be used to teleport to them as Nocturnals make concealing terrain in 1" around them, the same goes with Gibson deWalt and his bonus action.
