Regelridderen Posted January 31, 2020 Report Posted January 31, 2020 I love the concept of the murder baby, but I find, that I have trouble getting decent mileage out of him. First thing, he has Manipulative. Which is a great ability, but so has Candy, and Candy is mandatory. And by bringing two Manipulative characters, your order of activation gets set in Stone. Also Terrifying models works better with Pandora crews hand drain and control. He has the potential of getting three executes in one activation, which is great, but also demands a Master activation. Whereas a model like Carver comes with a min3, and a bunch of hand drain. He has some movement sheananigans, which is great Where’s Teddy and Lure can get Dora and Candy in position. Still that means he needs to drop his protection. He can save you a Stone on a Teddy, but still there are other great beaters, and he costs 7 of his own. So how do you use Kade, what functions does he play in your games? Quote
Nagi21 Posted February 1, 2020 Report Posted February 1, 2020 In order for me to take Kade, 3 conditions need to be set in stone: 1) Teddy comes with him. Teddy without Kade is fine, Kade without Teddy is not. 2) The enemy doesn't have a way to shoot me for 6wds in one AP (looking at you Mah...) 3) The enemy doesn't have ways to pull me out of position If those three conditions are met, then you can consider Kade in a spot where you'd be taking either an Aversion or Iggy. He's excellent in dragging things towards you and the rest of the crew, but his weaknesses mean that he's only survivable in some niche's enough to make him worth the stones. Yes the Aversion is tankier, and Iggy is faster, but Kade will murder anything he can stick his gurbby little knife into. As far as what I do with him when I take him? Teddy/Kade murder squad. They can operate independently of the side Pandora and her bubble of sad death is and provide some much needed board coverage. Quote
Maniacal_cackle Posted February 1, 2020 Report Posted February 1, 2020 Kade is only 7 stones, so he is reasonably expendable. There are times when I happily expose him to danger and put his manipulative down, knowing I will counterattack whatever goes to attack him. If he is near Pandora for instance, whatever goes to kill him is going to be hit by a few self-loathings. Rams is the most critical suit on him. Rams on his lure gives him an extra attack, and fast, making it easy to take three attacks in a round with him (with rams trigger for extra damage making him min 3). Execute is cute, but giving him crows doesn't work nearly as well as giving him rams and using his lure in my experience. I keep him and Teddy about 10" apart, so they can ping pong each other around based on whichever position needs reinforcements. Quote

I mean trading Kade is fine, no question, but there's a lot of crews where that won't be an option, even if you can make a counter attack. That being said rams for crit strike and Rip and tear are nice, but mid to late game if you get Candy in a good position, that execute trigger gets really nice. Quote
Ogid Posted February 1, 2020 Report Posted February 1, 2020 You have also a few answers about Kade in this other thread: Quote
Pikciwok Posted February 1, 2020 Report Posted February 1, 2020 Regarding my limited pool of models, I consider him as a mandatory addition to Dora's lists. He has the best lure in our faction, both stat- and trigger-wise. Till now, I only used him with Teddy and Candy. Fast, unactivated Teddy ~10" away from my deployment zone discourages my opponents from making daring moves on the first turn, so I can score points more easely next turn. Later on, I use him for his 3 lures to put enemies out of position, or to bring poor Candy back to action. He's a decent Vendetta maker. 12 hours ago, Nagi21 said: In order for me to take Kade, 3 conditions need to be set in stone: (...) 3) The enemy doesn't have ways to pull me out of position Are there any factions without an access to thwarting enemy's positioning? Seriously asking, I don't know the 3rd edition that well... Quote
goth Posted February 2, 2020 Report Posted February 2, 2020 Baby Kade holds a special place for me in Titania- until there is a pulse focus in Fae, I’m taking the black blood shaman which can carry this little guy (still manipulative) past Rougarou pushes. Gorar is 4 health + 3 equals baby Kade at full a second time. The Grootslang and anything hand out Pounce. And Titania loves terrifying beaters with pulse focus. Quote
Regelridderen Posted February 2, 2020 Author Report Posted February 2, 2020 I’m starting to see his primary function as utility/mobility. As he allows you to drag key models into position without walking. Then when it all goes down. I see his secondary function; him turning into a little shock trooper. Pandora giving him a built in crow - I believe the Crow to be superior. Since you can’t use suits on trigger-actions. It gives target Slow for Opportunist, and executes for resource drain, which is at the core of the crew. Third, I see him as a bodyguard for ‘dora. Using Where’s Teddy to tug at her, while hiding himself behind her after activating. - Bringing the Teddy is good fun, I guess. But that’s 17 stones I still think needs support. Preferably from Pandora, as Kade for me, is the model that stands to gain the most from Despair’s Influence. Quote
Ogid Posted February 2, 2020 Report Posted February 2, 2020 The crow is very good, but don't overlook the mask for raw damage in tandem with Teddy/Rider. When the other player is low in resources the crow is very good; but when not mask is 2 min damage + a Teddy/Rider attack (3 min damage). And he has the bonus action to lure the bear/rider without wasting AP. 1 Quote
Wyamphri Posted February 3, 2020 Report Posted February 3, 2020 The only time I go crow over ram on him, is if I have Carver as well and my opponent doesn't have a huge cache, looking around 4-5. Since Dora is really good at draining hands, you can just melt certain crews with it. Stat 7 executes are pretty gross, especially when you get potentially 6 a turn, maybe more with Doppelganger as well, but ya run the risk of over committing to the idea at that point. Still fun 😛 1 Quote
Regelridderen Posted February 3, 2020 Author Report Posted February 3, 2020 Funny, I find, that the resource drain of Card/Stone is more valuable, than an extra point of damage. Of course, Kade isn’t the first activation, you’ll need to put some pressure on the opponent to make it a choice first, so isn’t just chugging weak cards, but you’ll want to keep Kade in reserve anyway to bank on his Manipulative. Same cost, Terrifying 11, Bring It! giving Dora and Candy Mv7 and since neither of them have actual attacks, no unneeded damage to Wrath. Adding in Sin tokens you can change the target of attacks or put out irresistible damage against models with sin tokens feels thematic to Dora 2 1 Quote
