Gaining Grounds zero!

Also massive props to the game designers!

The Gaining Grounds really addresses a number of issues and ambiguities that have come up in the game. The terrain advice at first glance looks stellar and really clarifies what a balanced game looks like. And of course, the game balance updates are minor but address some really important issues (obey, terrain markers in schemes, etc).

 Well done, Wyrd team!

Gaining grounds zero is out, with loads of tournament advice. The updates to the strategies are particularly interesting - no more Zoraida shenanigans on corrupted idols, for instance.

So, the big change to Idols was that the controlling model of an obey-interact takes the damage rather than the target, right? That's helpful, for sure.

I'm not super clear what the update to Plant Explosives was, at a glance. Is it that a model can only drop markers onto the enemy table half? Does that rule out Zoraida dropping them for you and burning your AP as well?

Exactly. Now Zoraida can obey you and force you to drop on her half (if she is setting up stealing the marker for instance), but no more first turn she sets up an obey and makes you drop markers on your own side.

Looks like other changes include:

- Scheme 4: Search the Ruins. Terrain pieces must now be non-marker and must be entirely on the opponent's half.

- Scheme 13: Vendetta. Allows you to take an equal cost model as your target, as well as a higher cost model/

Reckoning and Turf War left as is, along with the remaining schemes.

The one downside to this? The M3E mats from Mars are already out of date (though only for corrupted idols)

I'm looking at the Mats by Mars thing on the website.  I can't tell, but don't they have a box marked that's 9" from the board edge?  Where that box intersects with the centerline is basically the new points.

Edit:  It looks like they had some nice circles marked for the rulebook version, but the cross lines should still be workable.
