Summon mid-air?

Corax

Question

Hi,

Let say a Forgotten Marshall summons a Night Terror, base to base. The Forgotten Marshall stands on a roof; the summoned model is placed base to base, in mid-air. Then falls down? Or let say the Forgotten Marshall places a scheme marker, base to base, the marker is in mid-air, does it falls down or is that illegal? Please refer to pages in the M3e rules, thanks!

Two objects are said to be in base contact with each other if their bases are physically touching (edge to edge or overlapping).

Page 13.

Place

When an object is Placed, it is picked up and put down in a specific location as determined by the text of the effect creating the Place. The model must be Placed in a way so that the object is supported by either the table or terrain.

Page 15

Summoned models are placed into base contact and within Line of Sight of the model whose Action or Ability Summoned them unless the effect states otherwise. If it is not possible to place a Summoned model legally, the Summoned model is not added to the game.

If the model or marker is not touching the base at the end of the action then you can't be said to have placed it in base contact.

The Forgotten Marshall has no abilities which allow it to Place a Scheme Marker.  You probably meant "Drop a Scheme Marker".

The first sentence of the rules for Drop & Create:

Quote

If a Marker is Dropped, it is simply put on the table in the indicated location without any further game effects; this is not considered moving the Marker.

and the first sentence of Markers

Quote

Markers are Dropped on the table during an Encounter to represent objectives or other game events based on the Marker’s description.

"in mid-air" is not "on the table".  Put the marker on the table.
