Popular Post Viruk
Some great stuff here this month! @Caedrus - love the vivid shades you've used. Together with super smooth highlights, they really make your paintjobs work. Top notch stuff there! @PetitDalek - great work on the skin tone, really impressive. That terrain piece looks awesome too. @Wintergloom - those red spots add to the "underground zombie lab" feel and nicely contrast with greys used on skins. Congrats on your trophy too! @Rathnard - I like the use of purple on exhaust, seems to add more life and vibrancy to the model. @Sol_Sorrowsong - makes me really want to work on these minis, can't wait till Eurypides is available in general release. @muraki - elegant, clean paintjob on the Investigators. Also, great Doppel conversion. @Thedeadclaw - nice work on the Agent. I'd only suggest using a darker shade of red to get more realistic blood effect (GW's Blood for the Blood God works wonders) @Stranglelove - nice choice of colors for Parker, those classic wild west shades suit him really well. @Diddick - both minis look very impressive. Great choice of colors for Hans, browns work really well with black there. Winged Plague looks sick and mean too - in a good way @Purple Mist - nice buildings, would be great to see some Malifaux minis next to them for a good idea of their size. @Franchute - sweet paintjob on this tiny mini. You've been consistently delivering really high quality works here, keep it up! I've finally kicked in my productive mode and will finish this month with a total worth of 50SS (6x Moleman, 2x Slate Ridge Mauler and this Killjoy). This was a great opportunity to experiment wil MiG's Oil Brushers - check out a note on my blog. I can definitely see huge potential of using these for Malifaux minis. As always, there are more pictures on my blog: http://www.whatthefaux.net/2019/09/fae-killjoy.html and you can also check out my instagram account where I put a 360 video showcasing this model. https://www.instagram.com/what.the.faux/
muraki
thanks @Viruk I did those investigators last and really like em (kinda wish i could go back and do the others the same way / style). The dopple conversion is funny cause it looks so much like her, idk if people will even know it was a ToS base model. I like the killjoy's base, the tree stump with the blue eyes is pretty sweet.
Popular Post misterfinn
@Viruk Wow, you actually made Killjoy look good! I’ve long thought it was a boring blob of a model but your detailing and smooth blends look fantastic. Color me impressed. @Caedrus You’ve got “shiny” on lock at this point. Your NMM practice has really paid off. Of all the shiny work you’ve got on display this month, it’s actually Queeg’s boots that impress me the most. So subtle but the highlights are perfectly placed. You’ve really nailed the texture. Kudos on your sculpting work too. I think you’re right about the hats on the Copycat and Miss Feasance though - a wee bit too shiny, even for a satin finish. I didn’t get through both models in my pledge, but I’ve at least got enough to meet my minimum: Fingers Leong for 9SS. A pretty basic paint job that looks rushed, but frankly I don’t like the sculpt much so I wasn’t trying very hard. 🙄 I’m done speed painting Gremlins for a bit - hit my burnout threshold. 11
prof_bycid
Hello all, I am coming in at the last minute again. More terrain this month, with a cart on a 50 mm base. Once the Green Stuff dries a bit more I will prime it, add some features to the base, and get some base colors on the base and cart. Finishing touches tomorrow night. Hopefully can still make it before midnight tomorrow. 37 hours to go!
Popular Post muraki
Finished the last of my Lucius keywords with the 3rd lawyer and an Alan Reid proxy. So I think that puts me at 52 ss for the month not counting the quick color change on some changelings.
Gloomy
@Caedrus 2x undergraduates and a student of Viscera for me this month. Total = 20ss
Popular Post emiba
It would appear I do my -best- only work under time pressure. So here, at 23.59, NZ time. I give you a Rogue Necromancy and two Guild Autopsies! @Caedrus, that should bring me to 20 points for September. 9
Popular Post Boomstick
As always, lots of great looking models at the end of the month! @Viruk wonderful take on Killjoy! I'm another who never liked that sculpt, but yours looks just right! @muraki I love the bright colors and your chosen sculpt for a stand-in for Alan! @misterfinn for not liking Fingers' sculpt, you made it look smooth, and really has motion like picking his way over the wood on his base. Reminds me I want to re-paint mine. As for me, I finished everyone pledges except the spiders, so here's Chompy, Coppellius, and all three Alps for 32ss @Caedrus. Played around with lighting to a higher contrast than usual, trying to make them all look like they were at the edge of the shadows (or more in them and providing his own light, in Chompy's case). 12
Popular Post Nikodemus
@Caedrus 5+5=10ss done. That pair of saboteurs I've had sitting half finished for a while now, I did them real quick last week. Only now taking some photos: Very definition of "phoning it it" for meJust wasn't feeling it this month. Kept the colour scheme extremely simple for expediency's sake.
lusciousmccabe
Jaysus, nearly forgot me bleeding entry. Here in glorious tricolour fashion is Mr. Som'er teeth Jones. Ended up quite the rush-job I have my first IRL painting contest this weekend but I tried out a lot of new stuff (some of it vaguely successfully) and think I got a lot from the process. So @Caedrus that's 15ss for me I believe. Too much awesome in this thread to comment on as I haven't been keeping up and people really seem to be pulling ay the stops as the year rolls on. Do want to give quick shout out to @Boomstick for that Chompy (and crew). You seized a great painting opportunity from a model that inspired nothing in me previously. From now on I will always look at that pose and think "The arms are splayed out specifically to capture an internal glow", but that's all you! Really creative painting. 8

khilin
Hi all! Last month I couldn't finish any mini and I had to use one of my muligans. As a way to compensate myself for that, this month I finished 6 minis. Any advice is welcome!
prof_bycid
Here is my September entry---a 50 mm terrain piece for 10 SS. I am leaving it horizontal but unsupported so that I can add a mule or horse when wanted, or prop it up on a saw-horse type barricade for static terrain.

Popular Post Sol_Sorrowsong
@Caedrus Only got Euripides and Primordial Magic to a place where I'm done with them. 15+3ss =18ss for September.
muraki
Thanks @Boomstick. It is funny that this month was me trying not to choose bright colors for once... Guess it can't be helped. I like the glow on chompy you did. The Alps are also a lot of fun. Really makes me want to paint them myself (I'm trying to be good tho and paint stuff I may actually play).
Rathnard
@Caedrus So while i didn't finish as much as I'd hoped in September, it was still a decent chunk of stuff; 6x Field Intel Corp (30), Margaret Belle (15), Zipp (15) and my last 4 Broken (20) for 80 SS total.
Boomstick
@Rathnard those Broken look brutal, well done!
Stranglelove
@Sol_Sorrowsong that Primordial Magic sculpt is so wicked and your colors make his body look almost fluid. Love it. @Rathnard May I ask what color you used for the bald gentleman's skin? Is that Doombull Brown? @khilin You have the right idea with base/wash/highlights. You might try thinning your paint more; some highlights are a bit splotchy. Great stuff this month. @Caedrus I finished 43 soulstones. Thanks, see you in October thread!

Is that Doombull Brown? ^^ Here's the basic recipe i used for the skin. A basecoat of Heavy Sienna over black, a brown ("umber") wash and then highlights of Dark Flesh (an old GW colour) and Dark Flesh mixed with white. I'm not sure what the modern GW equivalents are, but hopefully the pic above should help!
Popular Post bedjy
well, well, well, here I am ! Late to post (again)... but done ! So, with the whole set of ruins and the 6 new 12"x12"' pieces of board you can see below, we can say there is half a board done, no ? So I'd say 50Ss for the terrain, 15Ss for Youko 4 Ss for the Geisha For a total of 69Ss ! @Caedrus
Franchute
@Caedrus I did not meet my target in September as I painted only 4ss. Is it possible to downgrade me to the minion category please?
