Nikodemus
Not getting anything else Wyrd painted this month. Paging @Caedrus Claiming 10ss (Ototo) painted Poor fellow got one game in for a tournament this past weekend. vs. Molly. He got mobbed by Archie, Rogue Necro & a perpetually focused Rabble Riser. Took a lot to bring him down sure. But damn. Thankfully I always enjoy an excuse to use my Dark Souls inspired "blood puddle" corpse markers And it does feel nice to be able to put a well painted mini on the table, if only for a few rounds. Fight the grey!
prof_bycid
Here is my finished Sanctioned Spellcaster for 5 SS for July. The cape really needs some washes to blend in the shades, but no time as I only started 2 days ago. I am happy with how the skin came out for a change! Cheers all.

muraki
@Wintergloom Love the ghostly blue highlights! I'll have to try something like that on some of my models, it's a great effect. 1
Popular Post Purple Mist
Hi @Caedrus, hi everybody. I completed at least a part of my pledge with the building (Venetian Casa A) in the pics: The house was mainly painted by airbrushing and finished with pigments to age it. I'm not happy with the bidimensional roof provided in the kit. I have pre-ordered some sheets of plastic tile roofs but they are till unavailable at presetn so I plan to "upgrade" the house roof in the future. I have also a twin house model I'm going after: I hope to be able to finish it by the end of the month. Added next pic, shot before pigments aging, with a model to give an idea of the house dimension: Edited July 29, 2019 by Purple Mist added WIP pic
Caedrus
@Purple Mist: That a very simple, but super-functional piece. I've put it down for 30SS, as a guess!
Caedrus
Evening All, As July winds down, I've done a little updating on the spreadsheet, and I believe that it is correct. Please make sure everything looks good to you. I have moved a few painters into the did-not-finish category, and I think it is correct as well; if I've made any errors, let me know! I'm looking forward to what @bedjy, @Boomstick, @Chou, @Franchute, @lusciousmccabe, @muraki, @PetitDalek, @Rathnard, @Sol_Sorrowsong, @Stranglelove, @Viruk, and @wobbly_goggy come up with for July! Keep putting pigment to plastic! Caedrus.
Stranglelove
@Caedrus it's a mulligan! I painted some Bushido minis this month but no Wyrd. I'll get back on the horse in August. Excited to go through this thread when I get the chance. 1 more day til Gen Con! If you are going, have a great time. Would love to see photos of the tournament crews.

Popular Post Boomstick
Looking great so far everyone! Especially enjoying @Wintergloom's Urami work, wow! My month wrapped up with a lot of learning on my end, tried some new techniques on the Hooded Rider (or as I've been calling him, the Dark Pony of Time) and am pretty pleased with the results. Between him, Bad Juju, and three Flying Piglet parrots for Zipp's Pirates, I'm at 29ss for the month. Presuming no issues at GenCon, next month: Dreamer!
Franchute
@Caedrus I recently came back from my trip. It is quite likely I'll use a mulligan this month, unless something magical happens tonight. @Wintergloom great work! Which color do you use for the yellow shadows? It looks like brown.
misterfinn
On 7/24/2019 at 6:20 AM, PetitDalek said: I really like your Trixie! I struggle to achieve such high contrast, very well done. And you improved on the original pose. Any pointers for painting fast? Thanks! I don't think I'm the greatest guy to ask about painting fast - the best I can do is fastER. I'm endeavoring to knock my normal 7-8 hour painting time down to 4-5 hours. The biggest change I've made so far is blending technique. It takes a long time to layer into smooth blends, especially on skin - often it takes me an hour or more just to get a face right. For my gremlins I'm teaching myself to do more wet blending and "feathering" - blocking in highlights/transitions and then doing quick little blends around the borders between the colors. It doesn't look as good up close but it's a lot faster. Makes it easier to get that high contrast too. Also I'm looking at the model at arm's length every 10-15 minutes to judge contrast and smoothness. If the blend looks fine from two feet away, I stop working on it. If the contrast isn't high enough, I increase it dramatically instead of building it up a little at a time. @Caedrus Thanks for the advice on reds! I'm going to experiment with some of the different RMS "flesh" triads, and I'll check out the Inktense line as well. For many years I've tried unsuccessfully to find an adequate replacement for the old, super-intense Citadel inks so maybe Inktense will fit the bill. @Wintergloom You're doing great composition work with those complementary colors. Combined with the high contrast style you're using, it makes for some very striking models on the tabletop. Your paint's looking a little texturally rough on some of those models though, especially in the lighter colors. Thin your paints a bit more maybe? I think you could spend more time on gap-filling as well. 1
Gloomy
@Franchute Thanks I think for Kirai and Jaakuna it was GW's Averland Sunset with a tiny dab of Mournfang brown mixed in then a Seraphim Sepia wash. For Ikiryo it was Zamesi Desert with a bit more Mournfang mixed in and an Agrax Earthshade wash @misterfinn Thanks Yeah you're right paints should've been thinner although i think some of that on the Goryo and Kirai may have been caused by glue.
muraki
@Caedrus you're not going to see much for me this month as I've already passed my quota and decided to give my wrist a break. I'll go back and total points/look at the old docs when I have a computer and am not trying to bother wyrd at gencon

Sol_Sorrowsong
Only going with these three for now. 21ss worth. Rest are on their way but not done yet. Base is almost there, they aren't glued yet. I tried a few ideas on schemes, and then just liked how they were all turning out a bit different, so thought hey, I'll just roll with that then. lusciousmccabe
Couldn't get a decent picture for be the life of me but Franc here us happier on his new base. Popular Post Rathnard
@bedjy I quite like your stalking portals this month - it's always interesting to see how other people are painting up those sculpts. @Caedrus So this month I managed to finish most of what i pledged; Minako Rei (8), 2x Katashiro (10), 6x Broken (30) and a house (20) for 68 SS total. I'm not happy with the house, but it'll do. I'll just make sure not to paint it that colour again!
Popular Post Chou
Hi there! Just before I post my pictures I wanted to acknowledge the wonderful models I can see in this thread! @Viruk, @Franchute, @bedjy, @Caedrus, @Wintergloom and the rest of you people, amazing job!! From me for July, I have the following models (plenty of pictures because I feel bad for not posting them earlier): * Three Witchling stalkers for a total of 15 SS Two more pictures from the guys on both sides: * Three guild rifleman for 18 SS A little close up on each one: * A thallarian queller (6SS) and a witchling handler (7 SS) For a total of 46 SS, @Caedrus. The lesson learnt this month is that I have to do sharper transitions with the airbrush, instead of using a colour and then the a high contrast and let the airbrush do the transition, I did it by mixing the paints so in the end the airbrush basically painted everything the same. Let's see next time.
Popular Post PetitDalek
Amazing job everyone! This thread is the best motivation to keep going. Here are my July boys for 13 SS. Only one more model and Ophelia's box will be done! Painting gremlins is quite fun and I am slowly learning NMM.
