bedjy
Hi guys, With that nice Alt-Sculpt showing off, I come to you with that question : Who actualy plays Ototo, now that his cost was reduced to 9 ? Personnaly, I still find it has pretty poor stats and I'll prefer taking almost anybody else. Proove my I'm wrong ! Other point : Tannen & Graves What do you think of those alt sculpt ? I personnaly find they do not really match Ten Thunder spirit so I don't think I'll buy them.
Adran
I would say that graves and Tanner in their true form is more aesthetically neverborn than TT, but then I'm never quite sure why they are TT
daniello_s
Just now, Adran said: I would say that graves and Tanner in their true form is more aesthetically neverborn than TT, but then I'm never quite sure why they are TT Maybe because they are Neverborn agents infiltrating TT on Dora's/Lilith's order

That makes them owe TT for protection. @daniello_s Well, I admit my question was not the good one. I would rather ask : Will you play those Alt sculpts in TT while they do not really match TT spirit ?
Da Git
I'd use the original sculpts for TT and the new Alt sculpts in Neverborn. Ototo is just a dust collector these days unfortunately... Although he might be OK with McCabe and Promises.
thatlatinspeakingguy
Technically speaking, sculpts are nice. Personally, I prefer a dynamic pose of original Ototo, but I know that some people don't like it. Thus when someone asked few months ago which model would we like to see altered, Ototo was voted by many. Same with Graves and Tannen - nice sculpts, but original ones are fitting their characters much more. In his neverborn form - which many people voted for as well - Graves looks more like a generically boring/boringly generic nephilim. As for Tannen, he looks disturbingly and that's cool, but how you can be bored to tears by or chat with a creature like that? No way. 1

The idea "behind" Tannen and Graves, which they reveal their real nature is simple, but very effective! Ototo, isn't a bad piece, but like many other pieces in game, has a problem: there are better pieces for the same ss cost. Anyway Malifaux, it's not a game only for players: but also for collectors or painters.. that alt of Ototo, in hand of a good painter can become a masterwork! -Loki-
Graves and Tannen are definitely meant as the Neverborn hires.
Nikodemus
If I had another 100€ in the hobby budget, yeah Graves & Tannen could very likely be bought for painting purposes, and I'm quite 50/50 about whether I'd hire human Graves or Nephilim Graves as TT. Original Tannen though, that model is amazing. That grinning hunchback hits the devious look his game mechanics evoke so perfectly. Not that I mind the alt look, but dang og Tannen is one of my favourite M2E sculpts when considering mechanics that go along with it. I have some serious issues with current Ototo sculpt so he'll be a must buy, even if I rarely try to hire him. 1 hour ago, thatlatinspeakingguy said: That's what you get if you listen to the forum opinions Got any nuggets of wisdom to share? Jesy Blue
Everything I want Ototo for, I get out of either Kang or Yamaziko. I love the fluff for him, I like the name, I like both looks of the models, but I can't figure out a role for him that makes sense in any crew I make. Maybe if you Infiltrated him into Outcasts and had something with Void models, like a pseudo Tara crew but with Misaki, that would be better, but even his Call Thunder upgrade is only Ten Thunders specific. I don't think I'd take him unless he was Yamaziko priced... no, even cheaper, because Yamaziko is still better than Ototo at the same price. Mxbedlam
I've played Ototo a few times with McCabe and he just doesn't ever do as well as I want him to. For the same price I can take a Crime boss, get some card draw and drop Fragile on models or take a Dawn Serpent that can't be Lured.

Yvarre
Ototo's main function is to tarpit like a champ and hit back super hard. I hire him in pools where I want to tie up lots of models in a certain area. If my opponent wastes the resources trying to take Ototo out and fails, which frequently happens, he can hit back at Ml 8 with a built in crit. At half wounds with a recalled training popped, a flurry from Ototo can often kill almost anything, and then he can heal himself back up. He is much less effective if my opponent ignores him, but I try to make that difficult. I also don't generally take him when I think I might be going up against a crew that attacks willpower alot, like Pandora, who can easily nullify Ototo. I am buying his new sculpt because I feel it is more flavorful in regards to his playstyle, and I look forward to pounding many more masters into the ground with a model that people often underestimate. As a devout Lynch player, I'm keeping Tannen and Graves in their human forms so they can stay in their rightful place on the floor of The Honeypot. 1 1

I have Ototo, I just find his set of skills a little boring. Tarpit as per Yvarre, sure, but I often run Brewmaster so I have that covered. No real utility, direct damage only. Sure, he can charge through smaller models (not so bad), but that's not normally much of an issue. And whilst useful, Laugh Off depends on the opponent's list, not your own. For me, he competes with so many other models that do good damage but also have utility like the Whiskey Golem or Crime Boss.
