Ability with multiple phrases

wafew

Question

Scion of the void has an ability with 2 parts : discard a card and bury this model when targeted. AND sacrifice this model if it's buried at the end of the turn.

From the shadow is an ability with 2 parts: place this model anywhere 6" away from enemy deployment. AND this model may not interact on the first turn.

I've read discussions about both of them, and both have had different conclusions, for the scion, everyone agreed that you only sacrifice the model if it's buried from the ability, however from the shadows was agreed that they both are applied, regardless if the model is deployed regularly.

What do you think?

As far as I can tell the Scion dies regardless of how it was buried. The second sentence has no conditional clauses to imply it's dependent on the first effect happening, just like from the shadows.

It's more of a moot point for the Scion, since it's about the easiest model in the game to unbury. So it's only a disadvantage if you're trying to keep it buried yourself between turns, which is one of the things that second sentence is there to stop.

The difficulty is that Burial effects, such as Pine Box, are typically written as ‘Bury such-and-such model’ followed by some sentences that explain how the model gets out of being buried or that happen while the model is buried.  So that leads to the conclusion that the Scion’s ability burying it will kill it if it is still buried.
