Boomstick
Starting off strong with WIP for the two SS Miners (touch ups and clear coat yet to go) and both halves of the Dapper Lycanthrope (bases look too flat to me yet, and a few touch ups, but really liking how they're looking overall, my DC Arcanists have found their Batman). Thoughts?

I'm jealous of the skills many of you possess. For April I plan to finally get to Pandora and I also plan to do Lazarus. I'll also work on some models in secret so they'll qualify for the Creature Feature contest and I can post those once voting ends. Where do I have to enlist for Creature Feature Contest? I just see a link for the upload of pics. Are you sure you can present more models out of a diorama? Thanks in advance

I might also paint several and only enter the one that comes out the best. 😀

I'll take part with a model of mine. I invite all others to declare they will have part into Creature Feature Contest adding a, "Agree Icon" to this post. This invite is reserved to partecipants to Montly Painting Challenge.

Last month I saw a couple of The Giury profesionally painted. The trouble is when we have not the talent to paint at such a level, like me. A possibility is to print the text whit a very small font on a transparent water transferible sheet using a good laser printer. So you create a transfer or decal. After printing you have to fix it with acrilic transparent spray, cut it of the proper size and apply the transfer to the book, that must be a flat surface for best result.

Purple Mist
I anticipate my mid month udpate. I have not news about the 3 Nephilim. I have till to find a solution to work wings. I begun going after Nekima (not announced in the opening of the pledge). Hope to finish her this month. I'm working, giving it higher priority to the mini for Creature Contest. I begun working 4 resin bases (the 3 Nephilim & the Beast Contest figure). I assembled Nekima to the standard plastic rock, so I'm looking to solutions to enrich her bases. That's all mates. Nice work to you all.

H4ml3t
Question for the group: Beforelong I will be working on the Autumn Knights. There is some really cool looking moss in my yard that would look great on their bases. Is there any way to use real moss on a base?

Popular Post Caedrus
Time for the Caedrus Update! Hopefully, everyone's painting mojo has kicked in, and you are having an absolute ball painting those miniatures! As a work-in-progress for this month, I have made a start on Mortimer, Von Schill, and two acolytes, and I have primed a couple of Ice Dancers. I've started on these ones because I have been able to carve out hours to do some really enjoyable models! I've managed to finish my first Acolyte, and I was so happy with the colour scheme, that I continued it to a Rasputina (still scared of the LE Raspy) and Snow Storm! I took a break from ice and snow, and finished a Mindless Zombie and Toshiro! So, I'm at 44SS so far - 15 (Rasputina) + 11 (Snow Storm) + 7 (Acolyte) + 2 (Mindless Zombie) + 9 (Toshiro)! However, I doubt I'll carve out any more time this month, but who knows! Toshiro was an eBay salvage job, and was incomplete, so while I'm not pleased with the paint job on him, he'll do! Onto the pictures. (some gap filling would have helped here ... on the other hand, he's two soulstones) The large bowel should have been more necrotic. Dang. Also, the yellow is my Ten Thunders unifying colour. It clashes a little too much with the jade, I think. Vallejo Still Water effect is not quite dry here. The highlight on Snow's mask is a little thick. I'm pleased with the rest of this miniature, though. This base is very simple. I was really using this Rasputina as a stand-in until I get the courage to paint the limited edition Rasputina. Still, I was pleased with how this relatively adynamic figure turned out. I think it could do with some snow effects. So, that's where I am this month! Comments and critiques are, of course, very welcome! @Monkeyfist: I love the high contrast on Lola's tutu. She's wonderfully grotesque! Kudos! @wizuriel: For the text, a 0.05 'Micron' pen can be useful, especially in conjunction with beta-blockers. However, if you go this route, make sure the ink is super dry before you varnish it - and it must be varnished or it will smear! Keep on painting! Caedrus. 13
Shock & Awe
I managed to knock out my first model of the month. I am actually really pleased with how this model came out. He will definitely be replacing his predecessor as the model I use most (meaning the original Frank I got in the Latigo Posse box). Here is Alternate Francisco for 8SS so far.

The whole Raspy set looks really nice. I agree with the Toshiro comment. It struck me before I even read the comment.... I though, "why is his flesh totally rotted, but his intestines still look fresh?" However, I don't agree with the clash of the green/yellow. I think it works in it's own way. I like it, I guess is what I'm getting at.

There is a technique for preserving moss and lichen by cooking them in a glycerine solution and then letting them dry. Glycerine should let them keep their elasticity, so they wouldn't dry out and and break. I wanted to try last summer, but never got down to it. @Caedrus I am a fan of your Raspy crew. The colour scheme is limited, but contrasted enough to make the minis pop. I can't believe you painted them so fast 😲
Purple Mist
@Caedrus Very well done with your Raspy Crew models. I love the way you played with different shades of blue. Incredible the details on Raspy's face.
wobbly_goggy
No WIP this time, straight in with 2/3 completed.. I have tons of models and am using this challenge to finally sort through the backlog asap (so my gf will let me buy more toys...). These models also restored my love of painting somewhat... I love painting metal minis, in comparison the smoothness and lack of dep detail really bothers me with plastic. And the weight... love it! 8
Monkeyfist
@Caedrus Thank you for the kind words! Your Raspy crew looks amazing!
Shock & Awe
@Monkeyfist The skin looks really good. I concur, it's beautifully grotesque! @Boomstick I'm a huge DC fan, so I love the paint scheme. What other DC themed models do you have? The bases and painting on the SS miners is really nice. I like the foliage.
wobbly_goggy
Aaaaand here's the third of three 'official minis for this month, hopefully more to follow (I've started on Mancha Roja..) (sorry for blurriness, i cropped it to stop it being a humungous pic) and WIP in case you don't believe I did it this month (this was taken us after Raphael)
Popular Post Monkeyfist
So manage to finish Carlos Vasquez as well! Based on my favorite fictional character! So that's 9 more ss and I still have plenty of time to finish Mercury as well! The fire was hard, and on these pictures the shadows are barely visible, so probably need to do some touch ups, but I call him done for now.
Caedrus
@MonkeyfistThe high contrast and shadow depth on Carlos-the-Joker's back is really nice. I also like the purple-to-yellow contrast of colours as well. 😊 Nice strong contrasts - really good for a graphic-novel style character! If you want to stretch your skills on fire, here's a good link!
