GrumpyOldDraken
Heya I'm interested in Malifaux, I have a crew in mind namely Yan Lo's, but I don't have a clue what else I'd need buy besides the crew to start playing, any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks! JoeCL
Yan Lo is dual faction, so before starting investing in new models you should think about whether you are more interested in ressurectionists or ten thunders as a faction. Use this site to start out. This is the ten thunders article but he's written one for each faction. He also has a podcast, same title as the website. Big help. https://schemesandstones.wordpress.com/2016/09/29/building-on-a-budget-ten-thunders/
Haagrum
I second JoeCL's opinion. In general, any Ancestor model works well with Yan Lo, and they can be taken regardless of faction. Izamu, Yin and particularly Toshiro are all pretty decent models in their own right and synergise well with Yan Lo's starter box.
Adran
Welcome. To play you need your crew (models and stat cards), a deck of cards including 2 jokers, (A normal deck can be used, there is a conversion of suits in the rule book but a wyrd deck is easier in the long run as you don't have to keep converting suits), some form of measuring device, a 3"*3" table with some form of Terrain (books and boxes and pieces of paper can do), the rules and an opponent that has a crew. You will also need some way to mark wounds and conditions, and a number of 30 mm and 50 mm markers (can be blank bases. the number will depends on what crew you are using and what what your stratergy/scheme pool looks like)
