Oracle text database

Now that i've been reading some rules questions with guild coroner, asura roten, or bone pile..., where there's no clear interpretation for their rules I remember from my MTG times that there was an oracle database rewording old versions of cards. While MTG rules structure is more 'mathematical' and less subjective maybe malifaux could use something like that. Not needing to errata cards and fisically change their wording nor making a long FAQ list including so many questions regarding the original intentions of a rule against raw interpretation BUT maybe a card database (now the app should help with that) with oracle text rewording all those abilities and rules giving those interpretation problems a fast solution.

What do you think?

How is that not the same as an errata to the cards? If you change the wording, people will want upto date versions of the cards with the correct wording for playing the game, which is what we have now, with a majority of the Errata the type you are talking about I would guess

Because it would not mean changing the rule in the card, same cost, same original intentended effects so no need to have a new one in a tournament but rewording it to clarify according to avoid missinterpretations as an aditional text in the card app.

Or maybe a link to the faq of the rule in the app card once teh faq is published...

This is one of the functions of errata. Not just to rebalance units, but also to clean up wording. For example, the Brewmaster in the January 2017 errata. Nothing changed, but his Drinking Contest ability was reworded to read clearer.

Your suggestion of how to make it work in the app seems redundant. If they're going to have a separate document and link to it, why make a database when they already have a FAQ for this? The app makes it very easy to reword a skill and push out an update so people just see the new wording when they use the skill. Obviously, have patch notes here and in the app stores so people know what's changed so they can go look for it.

The only thing keeping them from doing this more regularly is they are obviously pushing for an all-inclusive way of playing, which means keeping the cards around. If they push out errata, people who want to use cards need to buy them. If they push out too many errata, people are buying new cards regularly. So this is why they also have the FAQ.
