Bonescon inc. Lost Love - Birmingham, 16-18 Feb 2018

Bonescon is a new gaming convention, moving on from Smogcon (which was a PP event). It will take place over the weekend of 16-18th February 2018 at the Hilton Metropole near Birmingham Exhibition Centre (and therefore adjacent to Birmingham Airport).

There will be both competitive and casual play over a wide range of gaming systems - see the website for more information. http://bonescon.com/

For Malifaux the basic plan is;

  • Friday (eve) - Enforcer Brawl (run by Craig Colley)
  • Saturday - Lost Love 6, a 3 round, 45SS fixed Master, limited pool ranked tournament.
  • Sunday - random doubles over 3 rounds. Pairings on the day, and may use random deployment and even a story encounter. A fun event.
  • Weekend - space for casual games of Malifaux & Puppet Wars

Tickets are £50 for the weekend which guarantees your place at one event (I would suggest Lost Love), with other events being open. You can play any mix of events over the weekend, and I recommend checking out the Fools Daily Butterfly House which will have a variety of different participation games. Day tickets are £20.

Accommodation is available at the event venue with a room rate of £102/night if booked through the website.

So, overall this looks like a great event, with the opportunity to play a variety of games, and socialise, until late, for a full weekend.

Looks good! The weekend may be a bit expensive but 1 day might be a thing. How many players is lost love capped to?

We'll have space for 32 players for each of the Malifaux events (though more on Friday is fine as we need less tables). If capacity fills by end December I can try to negotiate for more space. Conversely, if numbers are low I may get squeezed on space, so its important that people buy their tickets as soon as they get their pass out!

Ticket bought, was no Option that I could see to specify that it was for this event. The rest of the guys here will be purchasing at the end of the week

I assume that there will be some way to log in and select your event. Will try and find out.

So... will the Saturday tournament be newbie friendly, or would I be better off sticking to the casual games?

Lost Love has always been a newbie friendly tournament, hence the fixed Master format, though to be honest the general Malifaux scene is also friendly to new players anyway.

The Enforcer Brawl will also be a good way to meet the regulars and get your eye in.

Great, count me in. I just got the email as well, so will enter via there!

Entry lists for Lost Love and the Doubles have been updated - if you believe otherwise please let me (and Bonescon) know, especially if you are in the TBC list.

For the Enforcer Brawl I'm less worried about numbers because we can play multiple rolling games.

If you still haven't bought your entry ticket (or booked a hotel room) now would be a good time as Jon (Bonescon organiser) is trying to finalise numbers and swag.

Hi, I'd like to clarify.
For Lost Love: 70 SS limit means that we bring a list of 70SS and we can only use those models/upgrades in the games we play? Both for crew building and for summoning afterwards?
For Doubles: There's no pre-list like Lost Love, rigth? So that means that we're gonna be building 25ss crews out of our whole collection?

70SS list only applies to the models and upgrades you start the game with. Summoned models are not restricted.

Doubles is a free choice from your chosen faction.
