Jafar
Hello! In my local area people will try to do tournament where you bring 50ss crew, give them to organizers, then you are must draw one crew from all available and play it (excluding your crew). After tournament you will get your crew back. Prize is for first person and best crew. We don't know schemes and strategy, so created crew must be more or less universal. Because of that idea I came to question. Is there any master that can play most schemes / strategies in GG17 against any enemy? In Outcast I would say Levi because of his hiring pool. But what about other factions? Can you share you thoughts on this?
Ludvig
Probably Nellie in guild. She can help out with both scheming and killing by supporting her models and she can screw with most opponents by pushing and slowing stuff.
JoeJones
For Arcanists, I would feel comfortable running Ramos or Marcus for just about any schemes and strategy. Of course, my play style likely varies from that of many others, so mileage may vary.
Dogmantra
Som'er & Zipp in Gremlins are both great generalists.
Freman
Strange as it may seem, Parker. He sadly gets relegated to pushing friendly models around a lot, but that's not a bad thing. He is a toolbox, the trick is just figuring out what tools you need in any turn.
Bengt
Since you want someone who has never played it before to be able to do well, I wonder if it might not be good to make a really straightforward crew.
Butch
Wouldn't that idea turn in a tournament with crappy crews? If I'd be a WAAC player, my crew would be the most crappy crew I could think of? How do the organizer handle this issue?

I got wrong impression on your post There is prize for best crew, so people will have motivation for create something easy to use and good at same time. Also I believe that people are not total a**holes and won't create stupid crews like Viktoira without her sister in Outcasts. It's more for fun tournament, yea someone will win and someone will lose, but you will see how it looks on the other side and if the grass is greener there
Adran
Turning the question on its head a little, Is there any Master that can't do schemes/strategies in GG17? I don't think there is. But if you are building 1 crew to take part in unknown games, then you are stuck with the choice of trying to make a generalised crew, which is equally competitive at all strats, and can complete all schemes, but won't be great at any of them, or build a more specialised list that will be really strong in some things, but weak at others. For example you can build a Blaster Rasputina list that will be very strong in things like Extraction and Guard the stash, but due to its low numbers its very poor at interference. It might have a low number of killer henchmen and enforcers, so Struggle to score Hunting party, but the ones you have are tooled up with Upgrades so it will do well in Show of force. Thats not an intrinsic problem with Rasputina, but rather the list, and all masters will have similar problems. It sounds an interesting idea. I think your best bet is to build a specialised force, and hope that it does what shows up, as a generalist force will lose to a specialised force in those missions. It does make it a very Rock paper scissors event though, as you have a strong idea of the result at the declare crew stage (but player skill can still change that). Butch
OK, that's cool.

That way you are much more strongly discouraged from doing something like Zoraida + only pigcharge models to make a usess crew to sabotage opponents. Otherwise I would say maybe tie it together such that your TP is based on wins as a player plus wins for the crew you made.
Freman
I only have experience with Outcasts, but if I were building a fixed crew that was intended to have a bit of flexibility. Parker, oathkeeper, stick up, highwayman (flexible do everything master) 7SS Doc Mitchell (cheap healer) Hodgepodge Emissary, Hodgepodge Conflux (claim jump enthusiast, with his trinkets can boost crew) Strongarm Suit, oathkeeper (melee beatstick) Johan, oathkeeper (cheap relic hammer, condition removal) Freikorps Librarian, oathkeeper (more healing, Ca attacks for dealing with incorporeal) Dead Outlaw (fairly tough minion, good shooting attack) Bandido (scheme running) Bandido (scheme running)
Exgypsy
How do you determine best crew?
Adran
I assume its the crew that wins the event that is best crew, so in effect there are 2 first place prizes, 1 for the player and 1 for the crew creator.
santaclaws01
I would assume a vote for best crew. Also, summoners seem like an easy route.
Raclesis
My area is doing a similar tournament, but with the added rule of you HAVE you use everything in the crewbox (or at least that's how I'm reading it.). Is that the same for your tournament?
