Raythe
I have a friend looking to get into malifaux and he really likes to sit back and shoot up enemies. The problem is he doesn't like the look of either Perdita or Ophelia. Barrows is not out for a while. I mentioned Wong but are there any other obvious heavy ranged masters. He is very anti-guild though. Doesn't like the visual aesthetic.
solkan
When are you going to break it to your friend that sitting back and shooting does not accomplish most schemes or strategies, especially on a table with adequate terrain?
Raythe
I did but he likes the range game. He's adaptable. He will get some scheme running experience I'm sure. It's more that's the jumping in point he wants. Hes a former war hammer high elf player for war hammer so he likes murder from a distance. OneLittleThunder
Maybe Rasputina or Von Schill?
PositronMike
I would second rasputina as a good starting point. If your friend stays entirely in theme and uses all frozen hearted models he will have access to some of the best shooting models in the form of acolytes. Additionally by staying in theme he can have models up field to do schemes that raspy can blast through.
Rabbitknight
Lots of crews can bring gunlines, a couple make them useful. If he really wants ranged most factions other than Ressers can accommodate.
Dogmantra
The main shooty factions IMO are Guild, Gremlins & Outcasts. If he likes the look of Parker Barrows he can definitely buy into Outcasts now and have some shooty fun. Von Schill's box would be a decent start, getting you a Trapper for long range sniping, some more midrange shooting with Freikorpsmenn and the Specialist, some ranged support in the Librarian, and a versatile ranged/melee capable master. Or if it's only Ophelia that he specifically dislikes the look of, pretty much any other master runs ranged crews well, or at least can do some decent support for them. Som'er in particular can do some really nasty gunline stuff with Bayou Gremlins. Mah is the obvious exception, she tends to want to skew your crew towards melee.
D_acolyte
I would recommend Sonia, Rasputina, just about any outcast, Shenlong, Collodi. So Sonia, Rasputina, Leveticus and Collodi are viable distance masters. Shenlong can make ten thunder shooters focus for a zero action. Any outcast works because convict gunslingers, specialists, trappers, Rusty Alice and Lazarus are all good range model that can work well with most any master. Same goes with most guild and a lot of the gremlins. Collodi is probably the oddest recommendation, so I will explain that some. Neverborn may not have a lot of attacks but they do have some nice attacks that do not have or , to name 3 models that have it: Stich Together, Widow Weaver, Collodi. Then there are a few useful shooters: Iggy, Angel Eye, Scion of Black Blood. Add to this that Trappers and a few other models are mercs and range minions so Collodi/Dreamer/Lucius can all support them with there support actions. I also would point out I find static armies tend to be weaker in Malifaux then in Warhammer 40k or other games. Generally a static force will miss out on points needed to win, it is better I find to do a run and gun force.
Bengt
Colette, you don't get much ranged stuff in her box but she can amplify anyone as one of her main things is handing out AP.
Nikodemus
Does he want an all-shooty crew or just a significant ranged core? Ten Thunders have Katanaka Snipers, Pathfinders and Samurai. Archers too, but they get a lot of bad rap. With Shenlong those shooters will be focusing as a (0) or out of activation via peasants. Mei Feng is beater extraordinaire who will provide negative flips against other gunlines and beat anyone who comes close. I don't know if there are any bonkers synergies with other masters. I wouldn't build a TT crew of just shooters, but I've played gunline heavy games and done well. So yeah, we have cool guns but if he wants a faction where even the janitor is packing a six shooter then look elsewhere.
crimzzen
Viks with a gunline can be very strong in some schemes and strats. Viks + Lazarus, 2 trappers, Sue, Librarian, child + upgrades

crimzzen
She does, I use to play her all the time. Lately I've been running sue for the reliable damage and extra card.
