horvagab Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 Hi all. I have Into the Steam already, and I am looking at either Quarantine or Bayou as my next purchase. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to buy both, so I'd like to ask for some input on the content of these. I have the general idea (UQ is for Resser and Undead stuff, while IB is for Gremlins), but I a more interested in the 'fluff' parts of it. Into the Steam had awesome parts on factions and locations and people, and I'm hoping there's something similar in the other books as well. Could someone give me examples what kind of details can be found on the culture of Malifaux and other neat tidbits in these books? Quote
Cinnamon Bear Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 Well, Under Quarantine looks at the Quarantine Zone in some pretty good detail, breaking it down into different districts each with their own kind of gimmick or theme. Theres also a discussion of what you're going to find underground, not just in Malifaux, but also under the Northern Hills and such. If you're planning on running a city based game, I think UQ would be a good bet. I don't have it yet, but Into the Bayou sounds like its got a lot of interesting metaplot fluff regarding The Red Cage, Abominations, and other things I can't quite recall. As far as factions, it is supposed to have really fleshed out the Gremlins with additional Gremlin familiar, culture details, and explanations of Gremlin/Human relationships like how Brewmaster and the Northern Gremlins are friendly with Promise and the 10 Thunders. 1 Quote
Shadowopal Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 UQ brings some new dynamics to poisons as well. ItB talks about gremlin families and the dynamics therein. Cinnamon bear has the basic gist though. Quote

I don't think anyone has it yet. There's a picture on the product page, but it's not available for download, and I can't find an official release date notice. And it's definitely not available on DTRPG yet. Quote

Into the Bayou (and its companion Penny Dreadful, The Bayou Games) is out later this month. 2 Quote

You could purchase it during GenCon, and I know there are some other writeups floating around about whats in that book. Looking forward to picking my copy up a month from whenever the release is due to how long it takes to arrive at the shop here. 1 Quote
