Freman Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 I had a Freikorpsman end up in melee with a Ice Golem, so I hit him for the defensive trigger, and he then proceeded to survive four attacks from a fast Ice Golem. Rasputina killed him in the end, but that was two activations from a couple of heavy hitters to take out a five stone model. Quote
apes-ma Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 This was a great episode! It's good to hear some positive and constructive discussion of the old man, and it's got me keen to get something other than the librarian painted up and on the table! Your guest was also really clear and methodical in his delivery, making the whole episode really enjoyable. Also, finally some love for Hans! 1 Quote
Jafar Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 Also great to hear about 2 x charge trick many people don't see it. It took my so,e time to get to it. Great job @Khyodee 1 Quote
CapnBloodbeard Posted September 16, 2016 Report Posted September 16, 2016 Thanks for this one - I'm excited to crank out Schill again! Only halfway through the episode - surprised that charging a model you're already engaged with didn't get a mention. It's made me think about how I play him. I've been running him with high SS, throw him into the middle and let the opponent use a whole lot of AP killing him by turn 3/4. I've never really managed to make much use of cracked, but now I'm liking the idea of Schill charging in, dropped a cracked or two then jumping out. Although you also mentioned you wouldn't put Schill up against a beatstick - wouldn't that be the better place for Cracked, or would you be looked at dropping the df one or two then jumping out? Perhaps not having the steam trunk means I'm missing half his effectiveness, so that's why I probably tend to throw him forwards (I find that his shot and that of the Freikorpsmenn isn't really enough for them to stand back and blast things.....it's not bad but not huge enough to cause the opponent too much fear, especially once the opponent starts healing, has armour etc). I seem to be playing the Librarian wrong. All she seems to do is die. I like her for casting but that's about it. The small number of activations is definitely a problem for a Schill crew. 6 activations in a 50SS match against, say, Gremlins, or even some guild hounds, is highly problematic....(for me anyway) Quote
Freman Posted September 16, 2016 Report Posted September 16, 2016 Engage at Will plus Rusty Alyce with From the Aether can get you an extra activation each turn. Quote

Nice trick (I used it few times) but requires Rusty to stay relatively close to Schill so not necessarily in the place where she wants to be. 1 Quote

To be honest, I think the Librarian gets way more mileage in a Leveticus list: heals for Levi, card tapping Aboms, Waifs, etc as needed, plus loadsa firepower you can pull people into via Levi hires (Belles, Doxy, etc), and you're generating draw via Tally to fuel consistent triggers (which in turn fuels more draw via Surge, or does horde slaying). This post makes me a little sad. It shows how much Leve has changed since 1.5. Healing was the way to ruin a Leve player's day if they were not on the ball. Oh well, options are still fun. Quote

What was Leve like back then, and how did he play (all I know is he couldn't hire anything unless it was a construct or undead...) Quote

What was Leve like back then, and how did he play (all I know is he couldn't hire anything unless it was a construct or undead...) Don't have my card handy, been quite some time now but..... All of Leve's actions cost wounds, and at the end of turn he took one damage (and summoned a waif). Any model with 11wds was dead against Leve, remember, 1.5 soulstones added the flipped card to the total!! Anyway, you would do the actions in order to leave Leve on one wound, end of turn triggers he dies, gets a waif, sacs a different waif and is back. You also lost your whole hand and Leve didnt draw cards, it was all tied into dying, he refilled his hand. Now if a cheeky opponent healed him, well he didnt die!!! So you had a master on one wd (could not do any actions except kill himself) and no cards in hand. Pretty much up the creek, no boat, no paddle. So you always had a model that activated after Leve, just in case you needed to kill him. Sometimes even killing him because the activation cost just didnt get him on one. Think I got it all. It was super fun. Quote
