I can't think of any specific synergy as such, other than the Jorogumo being a big (ht3, 50mm base)  model that's fairly resilient. Izamu is probably better as a lightning jump trap, but Jorogumo can do the job. They are just generally very good - take one, you probably won't be disappointed.

Jorogumo might be a better choice over Izamu if you want a minion-level melee beater. This is important for schemes like Public Demonstration, where having an enforcer-heavy crew can make it VERY easy for your opponent to score the requisite VPs.

The Jorogumo can get fast and focus from Toshiro, where Izamu can't. With Yin pinning people down and the Jorogumo's wander the earth ability, they might be able to tie down multiple opponents.

Izamu can be brought back (and buffs up the other retainer minions that like the Ancestors) where Jorogumo can't.

I'd probably run Izamu over Jorogumo personally... but I also rarely run Yan Lo.

On  a slightly unrelated note, today I was able to Jorogumo Alpha Strike (with some tengu) and drop one all the way across the board for power ritual on turn 1 with corner deployment.

One thing to say is that Joro aren't living or undead. So if they do die, don't give you a chance to resummon Izamu.  Had it happen playing against him at NOVA. I was able to stop both Izamu and 2 Joro before he could kill anything of mine. Left him no chance to bring Izamu back.
